I use a Bamboo, no need for anything bigger most of the time.

Awesome work LJT! Very impressive rendering and use of a reference!

dienamite: Very gloomy but damn impressive :D

Thanks for the comments guys :D - The challenge next is to do something without a reference, I think its back to learning art techniques, that one tutorial about the drawing hands is very very useful, thanks Mr Nick!

All that using a Bamboo ljt? Can you link me to the exact model on their site? I love it, just the kind of results I'm looking for to get back into drawing etc. :)

Hi Dup, its the Bamboo Fun - Medium found here; http://www.wacom.eu/index2.asp?pid=294&lang=en&spid=4

Dienamite - That cartoon was fantastic :D, look forward to knowing how it ends!

Here are some of mine off my website:

Did you purposely mean for that to look like a penis?:p

I've been meaning to get a pad for a while now but I don't think it will get much usage. What's recommended for ~£50?

Edit - "Wacom Bamboo Pen and Touch" can be had for £65 from the forest. I assume this would be an OK starter for use with GIMP or similar?

Yes. You can even get an older gen Bamboo(black one) for much less than £65 as far as I know.

That's the one I use mostly as it's portable and goes nicely with the Macbook.

Cheers Shifty. There's also "Wacom Bamboo Pen Graphics Tablet" for £40 but I'm not sure of the difference? Looks like this one doesn't have any buttons which I don't think would bother me (unless there's a good reason to get one with them). Any idea?

The Pen only ones dont have the touch functions (i.e it wont act like trackpad from a laptop), so it depends if you'll need it as a giant trackpad or not

Go for the biggest for your budget if you can, it makes things easier, and saves you keep zooming in on your drawings to get the right screen mapping for your "brush" strokes etc.

One of my mates uses a large A4 sized one loads, I can't afford that (:() and I don't know how much use it will get! Ill try that £40 one and see how it goes :D

Cheers both - Ill report back when it arrives

I've been making an animated film in my spare time for the last 14 months, using Photoshop and Flash. Here's some screengrabs from it plus the first four minutes. It's still work-in-progress, and I've yet to do the final 90 seconds of the film, but let me know what you think!!

that is amazing! keep up the good work mate
