Show us your kitty cats

If you take a pet in without notifying you he will probably deduct from your deposit when you move out.
We notified ours and they requested an additional "pet deposit"

Ooophh! Really???

Well its an unfurnished house, but we do have to have the carpets steam cleaned before we move out - that was in the contract.

I think if we left it for a few months and then asked him, i think he might be okay with it. Thanks for the advice guys :)

Well my boyfriend is the other problem too... he is not a massive pet fan tbh, but after living at his mums with him and all her cats i really want one of our own! Have always wanted a kitty tho :D

Love looking at this thread...all the pictures make me squwee :D

Depending on how strict he is, it is likely that if you tell him before you get the cat, he will probably say, its ok. Obviously there is risk here - if he says no and then you go ahead and get the cat, then there will be repercussions.

I think you have to make the judgement call and it really does depend on how well you get on with your landlord.

I love all the pics in this thread too. :)

It's also a great place for kitteh based advice :), so I have come for some. Have any of your cats ever had any bald patches? Florence developed this little baldy area on her side about 2 weeks ago. It hasn't changed at all since from what I can tell.

We thought at first it might be from over grooming, because Mrs W had left her in the house all day a couple of times and she seemed to be lazing around and grooming a lot, but now we're not so sure. Any ideas?

Siamese, we have another one too. Although she is very timid and doesn't like cameras! We had another previous to her which got ran over... They are very intelligent for cats.
lol edit - she obviously wasn't, I guess her curiosity took over!

we have one in the same colours as the one in the xmas hat. although older/bigger. red pointed siamese i believe ?

there was pics early in this thread. i believe he was called a devil cat :o

YAY!!! My boyfriend has relented and said we can have a kitty!!!!

We are going to speak to the Landlord before we go and have a look in the adoption centres...knowing me I will fall in love with one and then the Landlord will say no :p

Definatley speak to your Landlord first,

Worst case scenario he says you broke your agreement and could use it as a get out clause. He could however also use it against you when you move out and request additional cleaning and the like be done.

We went to the shelter as they had ad's up all over the place saying they needed homes for kittens...

Was the result lol, one of the mothers rather than a kitten due to her being very playfull when we went viewing and the missus just falling in love with her straight away. We also considered the older cats may get overlooked when they're trying to rehome a loada kittens

TBH I don't really want a kitten - as funny and cute as they are, they are a lot of hard work and me and boyfriend both work, it wouldn't be fair to him/her

I'm off over Easter and the following week so we can go and have a look then and I will be home with it once they have done the visits and checks etc :)

I'm going to get my boyfriend to speak to the landlord soon and okay with him first...but SOOOOOOOOOOOOO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *SQUWEEEEEEEEEE*

Yay trixi! :D

When I had my kitten he was often fine at home but I used to go home at lunch to make sure he was fine and play with him a bit, I think he just used to sleep on the bed most of the time. But if the kitty was to be alone for 8 hours a day then I'm not sure if a kitten would cope to well depending on how young it was, but on the other hand if they are going to be a house cat then it is good to get them used to it as a kitten rather than a more mature (bah are cats ever mature?!) cat.

MAAAXXXXIIIII!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Well I would be stopping with the kitty for the first week or so (have the time off work already), then its going to be a case of he/she will be let out in the morning and back in when I'm home from work.

There is an outhouse in the yard of the house, which he/she can lodge in if its raining, but if he/she wants to stop in then it can have the run of the kitchen :)

This is another reason why we didnt want a kitten...totally not fair on a kitten, but with an older cat - one that has been used to being let out and such, we should be okay - just need to find the right kitty for us :)

Edit: AWWWW Skully!!!! Such a beautiful kitty - lovely markings :)

Please remember to keep the cat indoors completely for the initial 2-3 weeks so it doesn't go walkabout trying to find its way back to its old home.

Ours get let out for a bit in the morning then just give a shout and they both come bounding back in lol, I swear they think they're dogs :p

They then get let out when we return from work and on days off have the run of the place with the back door open.

Yeah i thought this would be the case tbh

So we think he/she can stop in the kitchen during the day when we are not at home - with a litter box and some nom's and water down for him/her, but for the first week I will be in the house with him/her :)

Thanks for all the advice tho guys and gals - I will put a picture on here when we have our new member of our family! :D
