Show us your kitty cats

Oh well, that idea went out of the window. The owners turned out to be somewhat unreliable and wanted rid as quick as possible, leading to both kittens going to separate homes before I could get a chance to see them, despite being 'promised' first refusal.

So that leaves me with looking around the local area for a suitable animal.

I'm still not 100% sure on the multiple kittens route, but it's growing on me and only a little more work than just having one. But if I can't find a pair from the same litter, can you reliably mix kittens (of roughly the same age) from different litters?

Oh, and as far as 'starter kits' go, do these look like sensible choices when it comes to the basics?

Carrier, Litter tray, Litter, Bowls and Scratching post thingy.

It will be fine to mix kittens of about the same age, usually young cats will settle well together, particularly mixed sex ones.

On the accessory front I'd recommend staying away from plastic bowls, some cats react strangely to them (one of ours had feline acne).

Stainless steel bowls and a pottery dog bowl for water are a good mix. Carrier looks fine though we have material ones you collapse which is handy for storage but not as good if there are accidents!

this kitten has been hanging out in my backyard since born so Ive made an appointment to get her spayed and she moves inside full-time later this week to join the other kits.
I think her mom who drops bye now and then has just had another litter but Ive no idea where it's at. I will call her Sasha

Good looking cat, especially for a freebie. I'd grab a few of her brothers and sisters and sell them.

Thanks for the advice - much appreciated.

We found an abandoned kitty today whilst out and about. It has quite a nasty scar on it's neck, so I don't know if that is down to human intention or whether it has been in a scrap.

The vets are closed so we can't take it in today for examination, but I intend to take it this week. It's so adorable and my cat doesn't seemed bothered by it.

It's currently lapping down some milk and we've just got some cat litter and a box for it to do it's business in.

I don't know if it's male or female yet hence why I'm referring to it as "it", but fingers crossed if it gets the clean bill of health and doesn't need to be put down then we'll keep it and find an adequate name :)

It's fascinated by the laptop screen at the mo and is curled up bless.

Here is a pic of it.

without trying to do anything to find its owners? :/

It would be good to put a poster up locally.

I'd suggest not including a photo. A friend of ours found an abandoned dog, put a poster and a photo up and some people came to 'claim it'. Fortunately by the time they came, with its so called name and describing it, she had taken it to the vet who had found a microchip and its real owners, quite unpleasant really as they got very aggressive and then when told it was chipped said they were going to check for some photos of it and disappeared.

It's unlikely someone with a new kitten would not have taken a photo or know something distinctive about it so a poster saying you had found it would be likely to bring the genuine owner if there is one.

If no one claims it then its great of you to keep it, a nice thing to do. Looks a lovely colour. Careful with milk for it though as cows milk isn't good for cats and might upset it a bit. Not an expert on ages but it looks to be post weaning to me (someone may know better though) so kitten food might be more enjoyable and better for it and if its reluctant to eat it try a little bit of warm water to mash it up.

She's the double of my Sally. Gorgeous cat, jealous!

Majnu, don't give it normal milk, as cats are lactose intolerant. Get it kitten milk from a pet shop, and some decent wet food like hi-life 60% meat.

He was found near garbage/boxes at the supermarkets outdoor recycling point, I doubt I can find the owners as it's obvious he was abandoned.

Yes it's a male. :p

@krooton - He's been having normal milk, chicken, chips and normal cat food so far.

He was starving, so I hope it's not caused any damage. But I'll mix water with normal milk as that should be same as normal kitten milk I would have thought.

Just to warn you, the kittens I picked up at the weekend, one of them had been eating adult cat food and it gave him a poorly tummy.

Might wanna get some kitten food for him or her.

My two (Lola and Dave) are settling in great. Can't believe how affectionate they are with me after only 4 days. I haven't come home to utter carnage yet either, just a few bits and bobs moved about in my absence

Lola also decided to explore the shoe rack today :D

Glad to hear he will have a good home!

Some kitten food might be better than chips but I think a chip habit is preferable to living at the recycling centre! Cows milk has too much lactose for cats but some regular kitten milk is easy to pick up from the supermarket.

They are so great. Love the way they look.

You'll probably find having two prevents mass cat carnage..ours play like the keystone cops still, chasing past in one order then the other and I think it stops them completely wreaking havoc.

I've got this most of the time! :D (click to play)

My sister and brother in law have been round this evening, Lola and Dave were very friendly and well behaved, I think its worn them out having someone new around though. They went to sleep an hour ago, and haven't moved since!
