Show us your kitty cats

Yeah it's just another dream that won't be realised. I've never used the FML acronym before, but it might be a good time to start.

Oh and btw that would have been one well-cared for and well-loved kitty, when I was home at least. My *only* concern is how it would be treated when I wasn't there. And whether that would confuse the hell out of said cat, loved one minute, and ignored/hated the next.

Was never a question of when you were home, ever. I never for once questioned you or how you would look after it. I could tell that would be one pampered pussy. You just can't be home all the time.

Also, what a horrible outlook on life. You WILL realise this dream, just like you will realise all your other dreams. You just need to work to realise a couple others before this one will transpire. It is like you have given up before even starting.

My new cat, which I called Luna in the end, has only been with me since Saturday. She's a real sweetie and really affectionate :)

I've just read the previous posts about fleas and I've currently got some Frontline on it's way. I've had cats before and never really had a problem with fleas whilst using Frontline but reports of it's reduced effect worry me somewhat, I don't fancy an infestation. She's not been outside yet but that day is coming...

Good to see your thinking of the cats wellfare FoxEye. Don't be disheartened about not being able to get a kitten, I waited for over 10 years to get my own MC kittens and it was worth the wait :) I'm not saying it will take you that long though lol just don't feel your never going to get a kitty. As someone else said get down to your local cat shelter and volunteer.

I didn't want a kitten for the very reason that adult cats tend to find it harder to find a home; Luna had been at the centre since April. I was initially aiming to re-home a cat which had lost a leg, for instance, or had otherwise suffered to the point where it was unlikely to be homed at all but there weren't any in such a sorry state, thankfully.

Luna is on the Purina OM diet stuff as she's a bit tubby :p

Please please please, Frontline is utter poo and no longer works.

Get something proper like advocate or advantage. Advocate does the worming too. :)

Just ordering Advantage from vetuk.co.uk now. Two boxes for £9.23 each.

I see the difference between the two is as follows.

Advantage
Each pipette contains 0.4 ml (40 mg imidacloprid) and 0.1% butylated hydroxytoluene (E321) as a preservative.

Advocate
contains 0.4 ml (40 mg imidacloprid, 4 mg moxidectin)

So I assume it is the moxidectin that you need the prescription for? I'll see how I get on with Advantage and if that doesn't work head for Advocate. To get a prescription it will mean a vet consultation will it not? Pricey! lol

I pay a monthly fee to the vets, which covers their flea and worming treatments, plus a 6 monthly check up, and their vaccinations. It works out better for me, and when I added up the cost of everything it was slightly cheaper than paying as I went.

I can't afford the cost of two lots of vaccinations in one lump sum, so spreading it over the year works out better for me.

It's weird walking out of the vets and not paying a penny though :D

Captain planet, it's probably because advocate does the worming as well as the fleas, hence a prescription. The only thing extra you need to do with advocate is give them a tape worm tablet quarterly, which is only a few quid.

Just so you know knip that Advocate does NOT cover all of the worms, forgotten which one it doesn't cover but there is one if your cats are out and about that it does not cover them for. You still need to have a wormer if your using Advocate, just thought I would say as my vet told me this. Oh and I also went and got one of the infrared food bowls to try on my 2 monsters, can't wait to see there reaction lol.

As for Advocate needing a vet visit I would think your right Captain, as they will want to weigh the kitty. You can get a prescription from the vet and purchase online but the vets will charge you per perscription and at £11 at my vets + the medication its expensive!!

Wow, yep that is a lot! I'm using Drontal for worming. Just checking the ingredients and there is no moxidectin in that.

EDIT: I think the worm you're thinking of is Heartworm

I currently have the kittens quarantined in the kitchen whilst I douse my house in Acclaim flea spray. As a result they're being extra fussy and attention seeking. Stupidly I have been treating the house in my shorts and now I have a lovely tingly feeling down my legs from the spray  Shower time I think.

And yes, I have turned into one of those people who takes loads of photos and vids of their cats to show other people, even upload to internet :p hooked.
