Just so you know knip that Advocate does NOT cover all of the worms, forgotten which one it doesn't cover but there is one if your cats are out and about that it does not cover them for. You still need to have a wormer if your using Advocate, just thought I would say as my vet told me this. Oh and I also went and got one of the infrared food bowls to try on my 2 monsters, can't wait to see there reaction lol.

As I clarified in my next post, you still need a wormer for the tape worm quarterly :)

Good luck with the bowls, they'll be fine :)

We have had our 2 cats for a month now. The previous owner told us they were up to date on worming etc. They are indoor cats so do I need to use all these products everyone is talking about and when?

Even as indoor cats I do their treatments. Frequency depends on the product, but I'd definitely worm and flea. Worming for us is every month, flea treatment soon to find out when my order arrives.

@knip I'll make enquiries at my vet and see if they have any plans

Thanks, so what should I get? Do I need to get them to the vets first?

Sorry for dumb questions, want to make sure I am getting the right stuffs

They need to weigh the cats to make sure they get the right dose, so yeah a visit would be good if you can :)

I do flea treatment every month but only do worming every 3 months as I use milbemax, think drontal is slightly different interval as Captain said. Mmm nope it says 4 times a year for Drontal so not sure why ur doing it every month Captain?

I've just read the previous posts about fleas and I've currently got some Frontline on it's way. I've had cats before and never really had a problem with fleas whilst using Frontline but reports of it's reduced effect worry me somewhat, I don't fancy an infestation. She's not been outside yet but that day is coming...

The best way to tell if Frontline actually works is to apply it to a cat with fleas.
Too many people use the stuff. Their cats dont have fleas, so they think that it has to be the Frontline which is working.

I used Frontline and I felt that the power of the fleas grew. It was like the fleas grew stronger after drinking some frontline.

I aggressively dealt with the issue, using Indorex spray, flea combing, boiling hot water and Advantage spot on. Since then, I have not seen a single flea.

Frontline should be sued for false marketing.

forget frontline, you may as well drop water on their necks. seriously trust me on that one.

and yes do it for indoors animals too, ours are indoors and somehow they got fleas. must've come in on clothes or been dormant in the carpet (yes we hoover, twice weekly in fact). we were lulled into a false sense of security that being indoors animals they would not need it and paid the price. not again.

I know exactly what you are saying in your post but this line really made me lol :p :D

This is the only way you can find out if the medicine actually works.
There are millions of people using Frontline on cats with no fleas, assuming this is giving their cats protection...which it isnt. They keep buying the stuff and Frontline make money from this.

Only when my cat got fleas AND I used Frontline AND the fleas got stronger, did I realise that Frontline is basically a scam. These charlatans should be sued and put out of business.

And get this...Frontline realised that their medicine is useless a few years ago. So, they brought out a new version called Frontline Combi. They still however produce the normal medicine and people keep buying it.

Frontline have acknowledged that their basic medicine does not actually work, but they continue to sell it.

What they are doing is almost criminal.

We hoover every single day, still didn't prevent them coming, grr. We are blessed with the most horrendous carpet at the moment though. It's a really deep pile but it has patterns etched into it, swirls, that act as trenches throughout the carpet. It's great for collecting cat litter in and all other manner of pieces and bits. You can give it a good hoover right through and it will still spring litter out here and there right after. Needless to say, it must be a great haven for bugs as the hoover won't get at them. Can't wait to be rid of it. Only the entire house to decorate first then *sigh*

Found a few clumps of hair today. They've been fighting recently and it's all him bullying her it seems. They're happy together most of the time so putting it down to play fighting but it really sounds horrendous and now the clumps of hair. Should we be worried.

Two points. With the flea medicine, make sure you rotate it. Rumour has it the medicine becomes less effective.

I will say my kittens play fight quite viciously at times that said, no fur is removed. They don't really bite. Just run at each other.

You say clump? What are we talking? There's 'clump's here which occurred naturally
