Does it clump together? The wood pellets just tend to disintegrate into sawdust when they get wet and then dry out a bit which makes it difficult to get out of the tray.

So i dropped Whiskey off at the vets this morning for the snip. It was so sad this morning, couldn't feed him last night because of the operation and so this morning he kept sitting next to his food bowl looking sad :(
He was great in the car for once, the other 3 times he's just meowed/cried the entire trip, each way. This morning, not a peep.

We pick him up before 5 but the vet cant feed him this afternoon, so would be without food for almost 20 hours :( . I think once he's a had a little normal food i will treat him before bed with some chicken/ham/beef :D

Worlds Best Cat Litter extra strengh, clumps like mad so easy to clean out and toilet flushable. Expensive but one bag does around 6 weeks with 2 cats.

Why can't the vet feed him?

Yup, the cheapo cat litter is a false economy.

They cannot ensure the dietary requirements are met
He's likely to throw it up (anaesthetic)
Don't want to upset his stomach

That surprises me, my vets fed mine (just last week when they were snipped), although they turned their noses up at the dross offered anyway - mine are carnivores thanks :p Obviously it is down to the individual vet I guess. Shame you couldn't have just given them the food you wanted them to provide.

I want to try it this weekend so I might have to shell out on an expensive bag first sadly. Luna may not like it either so I don't want to be saddled with 12kg of unwanted litter :p

If you pop into a Pets at Home store I am pretty sure they do a smaller bag of Worlds Best Cat litter. Still bloody expensive but at least not as bad and you don't have a huge bag of litter left if the cat doesn't like it! I also love Pets at Homes Litter tray wipes as its such a doddle compared to wiping the trays down with a cleaner and cloth. Had to do the cleaner and cloth at the weekend as they had no wipes and omg what a pain to do!

The one he linked is the smaller one at 6kg for £20.

How do the wipes differ from usual wet wipes/anti-bac wipes for the kitchen?

Well I don't know if the anit bac wipes have anything in that will affect the cats and most of them are perfumed. I don't use a huge amount of them so its not a huge cost in the scheme of things.

I use the Catsan smart packs - they're a bit pricey, but make it so much easier to empty out the tray when it's time for a full refresh, plus the cats can't claw through the lining.

I can't tell you which litter is better, but what you've just described is what's supposed to happen :P

With the wood pellet stuff you have an inner tray with holes in it that works like a sieve. When the pellets disintegrate they fall through the holes into the lower tray.

I asked earlier if anyone had one of these setups :p

I don't have a multi level tray and to be honest, unless the litter is disturbed sufficiently, it just sits there, sieve or no sieve. That also doesn't address the solids which won't go through the sieve either. I also use a tray liner so all in all, it's not great for me :p
