Show us your kitty cats

Glad to hear you've had success with this. Did you have to wean him on or did he take to it straight away? What are you mixing up for him? Need any advice?

Errrm it was mixed results at first. For a few days he just wasn't interested, I tried breaking it up, mixing biscuits etc etc...

In the end it turned out because you need to keep it refrigerated he just doesn't like very cold food :p :) - So now I keep his next one on the windowsill so its room temperature for dinner/breakfast then replace it when I use it.

What recipe are you using? i.e. are you adding something with Taurine, like heart, or a supplement at least? Ours don't like it too cold either, room temp for them too. I think it helps with the smell too.

I'm using pouches from Naturesmenu.co.uk - to be honest time is tight at the moment so I would often lack the time to add my own variations of raw meat.

The main thing for me is that fact whiskas/felix etc have a 4-5% meat content whereas this has 75%+

Hes infinitely better for it :)

I quite fancy trying my 2 on a raw diet. I noticed Naturesmenu do a referral offer, do you want to refer me?

Sure thing. I'll look into it when I get home.

Trust me your information (I'm guessing name and email address) and I'll sort something out :)

A college cat? Brilliant.

My cats love to come and lie across my laptop whenever I try to use it. I put this down to two things; the laptop is warm and cats suffer from attention deficit.

Our Archie is fan of my laptop. He quite likes being on the left hand side of it as that is where the CPU blows the warm air out

This is not raw meat.
This is cooked food in pouches.
Have I understood this correctly?

No idea.

I keep it frozen and defrost it the day before and then leave it in the fridge. It says keep it refrigerated for upto 2 days before it goes off if that helps?

I supposed I could go read the packet...

Did you maybe link to the wrong one? They do raw and cooked. Mine are on the cooked one that doesn't need to be kept in the fridge until you've opened it. The raw one needs to be kept frozen :)

What is it with cats and the small dot of laser light that they so love to chase? I have a very inactive rescued cat and have looked for a while for toys that would interest her for longer than a few minutes to no avail. But I had a torch out the other day looking for something small I had dropped and noticed here eyes following the beam.

So bought a laser pen and now have a absolute nutter of a cat who will chase this dot all over the house and I found out this AM at around 5 this morning all over the garden. I can also sit at the spare bedroom window and still the light is sufficient for her to chase.

So what is it that they see, as I know they do not see colour? Is it the movement of the small dot of light. A scientific explanation would be great or a link to something.

I do have a concern that though it is increasing her movement will she get frustrated as it is not a intangible toy, unlike a ball or a bit of string?

Scientific explanation? Errr... It's a small fast moving thing, like a little beetle or other insect, so the hunting instinct is to try catch it? Whenever we get the laser pen out we always end the mad session with a little cat treat. So I move the laser over the treat and they pounce on that, sort of as if they managed to catch the laser. Reward for all their effort :p

Just put treats around and use the pen to play with and guide to the treat.
You get a nutter cat running around and a few laughs and the cat gets a lovely treat! everyone a winner!

Treat idea sounds a good idea guys. Thanks.

Here are two of our Maine Coons. They're brothers and the grey one is Button (Jenson Button) and the other Seb (Sebastian Vettel). Big F1 fan and the names were coincidentally given by the breeder - probably would have opted for different drivers :D. Seb is pushing 10kg and is bigger than our westie.

Seb's hair isn't as long as it used to be unfortunately. They picked up fleas about a year ago thanks to some rubbish spot-on the vet gave us and subsequently lost hair. Since then they've been cleared of them but Seb's never really come back as thick as it used to be, esp. on the hind legs and stomach. Anyone got any ideas? Local vets aren't coming up with anything.

I probably have in excess of 1000 photos of the cats. Hm.
