What is it with cats and the small dot of laser light that they so love to chase? I have a very inactive rescued cat and have looked for a while for toys that would interest her for longer than a few minutes to no avail. But I had a torch out the other day looking for something small I had dropped and noticed here eyes following the beam.

So bought a laser pen and now have a absolute nutter of a cat who will chase this dot all over the house and I found out this AM at around 5 this morning all over the garden. I can also sit at the spare bedroom window and still the light is sufficient for her to chase.

So what is it that they see, as I know they do not see colour? Is it the movement of the small dot of light. A scientific explanation would be great or a link to something.

I do have a concern that though it is increasing her movement will she get frustrated as it is not a intangible toy, unlike a ball or a bit of string?

Hey there Kronos,

If your looking for another toy that should get your kitty moving look up Flying Frenzy on Amazon or there is a site for it too. It comes with either a short pole or a long flexible pole and multiple attachements. My 2 Maine Coons go absolutely nuts for it and it really gets them moving. I went for the long pole and it is very long but means the feather at the end does jump around which is great, have seen one of my guys get to nearly 6ft off the ground jumping for it :) I even have to hide it away when they have started puffing as they will NOT stop playing with it lol.

Hi all

I've started mine on the raw natures menu, and they've taken to it better than I thought they would. My question is, i'm going away this weekend for a night, and i've got a friend looking after them.

Will it be ok to leave her out their regular food? As in am I going to mess with their insides if I keep switching between raw and cooked?

:)

I cannot get mine to eat the raw food at all unless it is gently poach fresh fish. But the stuff from Natures Menu is a no no. Tried every trick to fool here into trying it but she was not having it. So back to Zooplus.

I will see if I can find this, cheers AFK_Matrix

I'd say no, it shouldn't be a problem. We had to give ours pouches for a few days, rather than the buthcers raw meats, and it didn't cause any issue. YMMV though?

Is there a reason that your friend cannot feed them the usual stuff though?

Dave. Definitely Dave. Family members have got some 'pets' and ones called Dave. Dave works. I say 'pets' because they're ducks but still. Oh btw the kittens cute :D

She's only popping in to feed them so it's just me knowing stuff needs to be kept frozen. I'm trying to make it easier for her that's all

Stelly as you know thats the name my wife gave to the kitten, I'm calling her Dave.

Must to my wifes annoyance.

Yay for another Dave in the world, my Dave says hi :D
