Show us your kitty cats

If you try and over-feed a human what do you think will happen? He will decline eating more food. Correct?

She is a little overweight, she can afford to lose a little weight and as such she is not hungry.

If she becomes bony (under weight) AND is not eating, this is the time you need to start worrying. In your case, there is nothing to worry about.

Addendum
I know some pet owners want to spoil their pets, but I assure you, they are not doing their pets any favours by keeping them overweight. Only yesterday I was watching a program on overweight dogs. The vets were really stressing to dog owners that over feeding an animal is not a good idea. They even had a human being wearing saddle bags and go on a treadmill to demonstrate how damaging it is to have a fat pet. When you have a fat pet, you are essentially shortening its life-span.

When I talk of spoiling my cat I am meaning that I have been to ready to give her something else if she did not fancy what I have put down. I am well aware that this is not the way to go but a sad look a plaintiff meow and I am putty in her paws. I appreciate she is now probably playing me now as she has learnt that she is likely to get something else possibly better if she plays her part well enough.

Time to man up and try and get a more regular meal regime.

I have also fallen for this in the past.
My Egyptian Mau (the most athletic pedigree breed in existence), got fat when he was about 2 yrs old.
What really clued me up, was when he began rolling around on the carpet, like a ball.

The root cause of his weight problem was Applaws Dry Food, which was on tap, unlimited. This food has a very high protein content and is calorie dense. I still feed him this stuff, but I am very careful to not feed him unlimited amounts. He is leaner now, at the age of 7, than he was at the age of 2.

For those who want to know about fat pets, ITV are currently doing a series.

One of ours was killed by a car last night.

Sorry for your loss.
My cat last did a few years back and it was a difficult time for me, so I know what its like.

She's the friendliest of our cats but she was getting bullied by the other two

This is actually a good point.
Owners need to match their cats based on personality, so they can fit into their new family/environment. If you have 2 dominant cats, you need to make sure you dont bring in a shrinking violet.
If you match the personalities then you will get great results within hours.
You often hear of people introducing cats over a period of 7 days, etc. This is something I dont agree with.
And don't assume that if the new cat is big, he will be able to "handle" himself. Like human beings, the smallest human/cat can be very dominant; conversely, a bigger human/cat can be submissive. Dominance is all the mind.

This picture was taken 24 hours after the 2nd kitten (the lighter coloured cat) arrived in my house:

I bought another kitten (picture below), which was taken within 48hours of him arriving. He is pictured with my Egyptian Mau, who was 5yrs old, at the time.

When I bought the kitten (in the above image), I was mindful that the older cat was an uber alpha male. With this in mind I made sure that the new kitten was robust, strong and dominant. Before buying him, I also viewed another kitten, but during that visit I noticed the kitten I was interested in, getting beaten up by his litter mates. If his litter mates could beat him up, imagine what my Mau would do? So, I declined that kitten.

I know some people buy pets with their heart...but if you use your head, you will get far better results.

Loving all the cats, thought it was about time I posted mine up. I have two cats, the one in front is called Evee and her brother behind is called Stromboli. They are two and a half years old. I'll dig up a few more pictures when I get the chance, although no picture will probably do them justice.

Maude and Hetty were sisters that originally lived happily with my gf before she moved in to mine about 6 months ago. Since then, my cat Dexter and Hetty seemed to get on fine but they'd gang up on Maude, blocking her access to places and making her wait till last to eat. We tried Feliways but they didn't seem to change anything and she stopped using the litter trays. When we took them to my parents at Christmas she was like a different cat, using the trays properly and playing with us. They've got more space than me so I assumed she was less stressed there. My parents loved her and we talked about letting them keep her.. We were going to make a decision this month if things didn't improve for her. Just wish we'd made the decision while we were down there! :(

Percy is my type of cat such a handsome beast :D i love Silver Tabbies definitely would like one (or two) one of these days :)

I think it stems from an old neighbour we used to have they had two, one had spots and one had stripes, they were amazing kittys.

We have had no post since before Christmas. So last week we called the sorting office - "Oh, no there isn't any post waiting here". Okay we thought, maybe just a Christmas backlog.

Yesterday we phoned again as we still had not received anything despite knowing several items had been sent - "Yes your post has been stopped, you need to come in and see one of the Managers". Weird we thought.

So my other half goes to the sorting office this morning and it transpires that one of our (indoor) cats has been waiting on the downstairs windowsill and upon seeing the Postie coming up the path he (the cat) would run to the letterbox. Apparently the posties fingers had been got several times, the last being quite bad so they put a stop on delivering our mail.

So we now have to fit one of those cages to the rear of the letterbox and get Royal Mail to come and inspect it before they will restart delivery of our mail.

The offending violent creature:
