Show us your kitty cats

Wow that is some crazy feeding regime! You ought to get him used to two meals a day IMO. Our cats know they get fed once in the morning and once at night. They don't pester for more than this, although admittedly Barry will sit in the kitchen watching me cook awaiting the obligatory tossing of scraps (which is naughty but I can't resist).

Yeah, Winston's feeding schedule for years has been 80g of Natural Instinct at 7am, 40g at 6pm, and 40g at 11pm.

We started him on 2 a day but he basically insufferable because his meals were so far apart. He lacks the ability to graze so we found spacing his feeding times out was better as he didn't beg for food until recently.

I can assure you it is not just a Tom thing. Here is my girl in her favourite position , which I call **** mode.
It's also our Molly's favourite position!

My Milo and Lilly don't even have a feeding schedule. They both just share a large bowl of food and it always has food in it. I guess I'm lucky they they are both pretty active cats and are not overweight at all.

One thing that is off topic of feeding that someone may be able to answer is why Milo the boy cat will not go in the litter tray to crap after Lilly the girl cat has pooped in there? It has only just become a problem. He will poop in there if it is fresh litter but not after. It's not really feasible to have two litter trays and it ends up with him just pooping outside of the tray on the floor or outside. Anyone have any advice?

we always read that you should have one litter tray per cat.

we have three for two cats as one will not poo in any of the trays if there is a wee in there. although he'll wee in there if there is already a wee in there. weird animal.

When I got Luna, she was on 23g Purina Obesity Management dry food, twice a day. Shes far from fat but I've upped it a little and add some wet food to it just to make it more interesting for her. I'll probably ditch the OM stuff once this bag runs out and get the regular stuff.

e: Also, found this odd cat petting 'game' on RedFerret - http://neongrey.itch.io/pet-that-cat

How old is he / what is his weight, 40g of dry food sounds awfully small for an adult cat.

7 years old, 5.3kg when we weighed him recently. It's the Hills Science Plan and I understand you need less of this than the usual supermarket brands. When we fed him the 'recommended' 60-70g of the food he jumped up to nearly 7kg so we had to cut him down slowly and now find 40g keeps his weight pretty constant. He's a house cat and a lazy one at that :)

This is another good reason to feed meat and raw meat more so. It fills them up more and sustains them throughout the day.

I appreciate the cat is probably pestering you but you have to remind yourself, the cat is not YOUR master :p

Yet another toy suggestion, based on own experience... Our girl is obsessed with these. Not interested in anything else at all and would spend the entire day chasing it, dropping it on your lap and meowing at you until you threw it again for her, unless we pocket it and hide it from her to calm down. Even then she's on edge looking for it.

Shiny craft pom poms. You can get packets of them for a few £. She likes the gold ones best, I think because they're like little furry animals. Yep, they're like crack to her, always finding them marooned under the sofa :D

I bought a packet of those. Only £2, so didn't matter if it didn't work. I didn't realise how small they were. Only the size of marbles!

Was worried she'd eat them but she's too smart for that :)

In any event, she was interested for about 5 mins; once she figured out they were inanimate objects she rejected them like all her other toys :(

Or maybe I just suck at making playtime interesting.

I've bought a bird feeder which fixes to the window, and will stick it in her room, in the hope that the birds will come and she'll get some entertainment value from it.

Otherwise I'm starting to suspect that she simply needs another kitty to play with.

Long story short, she spent the first 8 months of her life living with a family inc children, and also with 4 or so kittens +2 cats, +2 dogs. The breeder said she suspected one of the other cats was bullying her, and that she'd be happy as an only cat. But I wonder if she'd prefer some company after all.

One way to get my two fired up beyond comprehension is to open the lounge blinds when the family of squirrels play outside. My two are like dogs at the window, even panting and what not to "try and get at them".

I opened the door one day and obviously the squirrels retreated into the trees but the cats ran out and just sat there staring up at them while they (the squirrels) made some funny noises, sounded like they were taunting them. Funniest thing to watch. Dog once having caught the car scenario...

This story doesn't help you in the slightest but it was a funny anecdote none the less :)

I'm sorry I'm out of ideas lol. Apparently (my missus is just explaining) kittens are taught play. So if she missed out on that when younger then that may be why. I don't know how true that is, she could be talking crap. Seems feasible though.

Black cats are sooo gorgeous. I have no idea why they are the least popular cats at shelters.

Even me own Ma hates black cats, for no good reason. I don't get it.

Yours is awesome :)

Yeah even the breader we got him from said if it wasn't for us she thinks he wouldn't have found a home.

The vet also said the same, people just don't like them I guess.

Barnaby is brilliant though, he is at the skitty kitty stage, never stops wrecking things, doing high speed circuits of the house or annoying the pooch.

He does however only ever want a cuddle between the hours of 20:00 and 22:00 - right when I jump on a game! :D

I don't understand why people don't like black cats! Growing up all I ever wanted was a black witches cat :D Peanut is like my shadow, although he is being highly annoying at the moment, I still love him :)

Here he is taking a nap in the (rare) January sunshine:

Snoopy had been in the shelter for a long time before we adopted her. I guess its cause she isn't a 'pretty' cat with all 'pretty' patterns etc, but she is beautiful to me and after nearly 3 years living with us, I am still spotting markings on her that I hadn't noticed before:

They don't get on with each other, but separately they are both adorable
