Someone's settling in well ;)

Ive read many stories like this and I dont agree with them.
If the cats are well balanced they should be able to get on within hours..

Problem is that Jinx ( my cat) is smaller than this "cat" (not got a name yet) and feels threatened. Your pics show a young cat and an older one. Jinx and "cat" are both full grown adults. I dunno if that's anything but there has been some hissing and that belly deep growl they do. No aggressive swipes or anything as yet.

As I said I'm trying to get to keep her but if wife says deffo no then "cat" will get rehomed. Would be lovely if I arrived home from work tonight to them cuddling up but I doubt it lol

Could you stick a Feliway diffuser in for a bit just to ease the transition?
I'm sure the cats will be fine but it might help your wife settle in with the idea :p

Our cat Holly still won't let Ronnie (new adopted cat of 12 months) near her - they walk past each other now and tolerate each other but Holly won't let Ronnie give her a kiss - Sometimes he hides behind log basket and get's down and wiggles his bum and jumps out at her but she lies on one side with all claws and teeth out hissing and spitting. he just stands there looking at her as though she is mad. - It has been Hollly's house for 5 years though

Didn't think we would get this far once but at least we can leave them in together and not come back to wrecked house.

Hope your wife will let you keep her.

Dave

Luna is such a pain when it comes to worming tablets...

Last time I got away with breaking the tablet in two and mixing it in with her food but this time round she completely avoided the two halves this morning and then, after crushing the bits and mixing them right in, she has decided to just ignore the whole bowl of this evening's food!

I've not done the force feeding method before but I fear I might have to buy another tablet and just make her eat it :/

Lola has to have a tablet every day cos of her habit of getting cystitis. I just tip her head back and fire it down her throat now. She's not happy but she lets me.

Can you wrap Luna in a towel to do it, to save you getting scratched to death?

Nice present today. Poor Bella had eaten some elastic and puked it up in the hallway.

In my room, she'd had a liquid poop and proceeding to wipe her button on the carpet. She'd got poop up her tail too, and I only noticed once I'd started stroking her... (I have no sense of smell). So yeah, poopy hand time :p

Nothing a little hot soapy water didn't fix, anyhow.

However she is sneezing a lot, every day, and shaking her head (but all cats do that, right?). She also shakes her entire body like a wet dog. The vet talked about allergies last time I saw him, but tbh I'm not at all inclined to go back to that vets. They didn't want to do anything or consider anything unless I suggested it, or prompted them with lots of questions.

She doesn't scratch as badly as she used to, but the constant sneezing and snoring suggests she has some kind of allergy. She eats healthily, plays vigorously, and has learned that meowing loudly gets her anything she wants :p So she's not exactly suffering :p

When one of my cats was sneezing a lot it turned out he had a 5 inch blade of grass stuck in is soft pallet. Once it was taken out he was fine.

I'll have to try it; she's very wary if she senses something is happening. Flea treatment takes some preparation so it can be done quickly and flawlessly... no second chances! :p

I can also use the towel thing to get a collar on her too. Not relishing the spasm attack she'll have once that's on :/

I got a question for you cat people.

I don’t have my cat any more, he died in 2010, but we had him form about 94-2010.

All year round we used to put the cat outside when we went to bed. So the cat would have been outside form about 1am -7am. We had a shed with a bed in it, but it was still nippy when it was cold.

I used to try to leave the cat in at night, but more often than not around 3-5am he would start crying and want to go out side.

I even tried putting him out for 30mins so he can do his business then letting him back in but around 3-5am the incessant meowing would begin.

Do you put your cats out at night?

Mine get shut in for the night, usually from about 8:30 ish in the winter and 10 in the summer depending on when they come home.

As it's darker in the mornings at the moment, I usually don't get woken up by them wanting out until about 5:30-6ish, but it can be earlier. This morning for example it was 4:45.

I've taught myself to get up, open the cat flap, and then go back to bed. It's handy I live in a tiny flat though, so I don't have far to go.

I shut them in partly due to me having a small flat, and if they were coming and going all night, it'd disturb me more, but also as I feel it's safer for them :)

I'd never shut them out, in case they needed to hide somewhere safe and get home. Don't really get people who do this. They're part of my family.

Jess (3.5 kg) definately felt threatened by Oscar (4.5 kg and a year older) - she never really relaxed around him, and I eventually had to give him to a friend rather than have two unhappy cats.
