Show us your kitty cats

My kitty's in hospital :(

Been hiding away from us for two days and making funny groaning noise. Hissing at us as well. Very unlike her. Took her to the vets and she a has a broken canine with the root exposed. Poor girl must be in agony.

Keeping her overnight and tomorrow she will have a root canal done. Having her chipped as well. Luckily I'm the only one in the house who had the foresight to insure her, otherwise it could have ended up costing us £300 or so.

Hi all

I'm going to the local cat protection on Monday to hopefully choose two kittens (about four months old). I live near main roads and there seems to be a lot of cats fighting in the area so I'd like to raise them as house cats. A quick google shows debates on indoor vs outdoor cats, I'd like to compensate for anything they may miss by buying new toys etc so they are stimulated.

Anyway I've never had cats before so can someone advise if I've missed something?

I'll be getting the following:

Scratching post
2x beds
2x litter trays
4x bowls (is it better to get a different type/size bowl for water?)
Toys
2x carrying cases

I'll be getting a few different foods to see what they like best.

Cheers

So Zoey just recently turned 5, had her since she was 8 weeks old :)

Hard to think this little ball of fluff

They'll definitely need a lot of stimulation. It needs to be kept new and exciting too, having the same thing for an extended time gets old quickly.

Lots of climbing and hiding spaces, lots of scratching posts. Lots of space to run and chase is handy too.

Ours like running water so if they're not in the sink wanting the tap on then they have a cat water fountain.

Oh and I hope you don't ever want to have your bed space ever again.

Kris, cats often like to be up high, and if you have more than one and they ever have disagreements they will like somewhere high to be that makes them feel safe. So any of those tall climbing scratch things are good.

I'd also suggest leaving most rooms doors open if your out as cats like their own space so confining 2 into the same space might cause them to get into scuffles. My parents 2 will sleep in any of the 3 bedrooms, but never both in the same room as each other.

My cat has beds all over the flat and not one of them is her cat bed. Bottom of wardrobes, under my bed, on an ottoman (posh name for a under-desk drawer unit removed from said desk and covered with a layer of underfelt and carpet.) and a couple of these http://www.zooplus.co.uk/shop/cats/cat_beds_baskets/cat_blankets/298731 which are very soft and washable.

They're lovely looking cats. I might look for one similar. Are they Maine Coons?

The idea is to have one alongside a Rottweiler.

Edit: yes, found earlier in thread. Seek and ye shall find!

Yes 2 Mainecoons 1 boy 1 girl :) and they are growing like mad , very dog like the way they act , lovely cats i would recommend to buy 1 or even 2 lol

Got the microchip sure flap fitted today, ready for kittens impending arrival (so Dave and Lola can get in/out, but Bruce can't until he's old enough)

Do they get used to the noise? It's freaking them out at the moment?

Also can someone tell me what the latest advice is on moving? How long am I meant to keep them in so they remember where they live now? I can't imagine it being fun them having to stay in. I can barely get Dave to stay in overnight as it is.
