Show us your kitty cats

Looked at that and rearly like the look of that but a 100 quid is a bit much. Looking at the Large Staywell electromagnetic one. Which gives me the size and is half the price of the Sureflap.

That's completely different though. That requires the cat to wear a tag on a collar and is just in or out. The Sureflap reads their microchip plus you can set a time that it stops them going out (curfew mode). My cat's don't wear collars so the Sureflap was the best choice for me. I thought £89 for such a quality, sturdy flap was a good price.

Off to see our potential kitten tonight, British Shorthair and he's Blue. First joint thing for us (Been together 17 Months now). Will be coming home with us at the end of September.

Few things I need to know, do people use a network camera to watch their pets at all, I'll be working from home 2/3 days a week until he has settled but want to keep an eye on him while we are both at work.

What good kitten toys are there?

best kitten toys for me are balls of paper, my socks, my feet, my ankles, draw strings on my jogging bottoms, shoe laces, you get the idea.

Dont be fooled by half the stuff you see in pet shops, half of them are designed to attract gullible owners. Get a few different cheap things, all cats will love a quick moving toy that they can chase, so something on a pole/string etc.

Laser pointer is always a good idea but i like to make sure i have a proper toyi can throw for my cat to actually be able to catch something. After i have tired her out tho :p

Cardboard boxes. Different shapes, sizes and positions in your house. Cats love them!

They also love paper packing from deliveries from that rainforest place, and anything dangling that can be whirled or pulled along the floor. If it is going to be an indoor cat, an activiy frame is always a good idea as cats love climbing and being high up.

Cats have brilliant imagination and will play with and chase just about anything that moves! :p

Laser pens can be good to exercise your cat indoors, but obviously be careful not to point it in their eyes.

I also recommend you get a scratch post and try and train the kitten early in it's use! :p

I agree but if you do not have that sort of money to spend then it is academic. But with a bit of juggling of finances I decided to go with the Sureflap. But adding batteries pushes it up a bit. Hoping it will arrive when I have the kitchen fitters in next week when hopefully I can bung one of them a couple of quid to cut the hole from the door.

Hi I'm Chester - I love to pee in the sink when my dad is in the shower before he goes to work (to pay for my whiskas) then I take a dump in the bath after he's gone - just to show how much I appreciate his hard work....

Toilet/kitchen roll tubes too.

While I promise not to spam you all with kitten pictures I thought I'd add these two just for scale. That's a 55" TV and an itty-bitty-kitty :D

The TV was on this channel as background music while we had guests and Boris who clearly knows his stuff as "Birdie" pops on at #7:

I fitted my own catflap in our house, on the back door.

It isn't that large mind you - but it is a UPVC door. I basically used a drill and a jigsaw (carefully!).

I would always cut a little smaller than you need and then take away a bit more if needed.

I had to buy a specific size catflap because my door has decorative UPVC 'infil' panels as part of the design so I needed one small enough to fit between them. I am quite pleased with the results and our two little men have never complained :)

The geek in me also found it interesting to see how a UPVC door was made :p

UPVC, Plywood and foam. Lots and lots of foam!

Kronos, we found it easier to scan the cats microchips before I fitted the flap. They were nervous as it was new and otherwise we would have had to start the scan and "persuade" them through the flap.

We Met the kittens last night. We originally went to meet a shorthaired blue boy, but we also met his fluffier brother and their longhaired sister

We are now thinking go get the sister and the longer haired boy after playing with them for over 2 hours.

And fitted. Not quite as straightforward as I would like as I suspect I, like most people, would be worried about making too big a hole so you end up with one that is small, so much trimming involved. For the price of these things then a template would be welcome.

Did that mate thanks and I was pleasantly surprised that the audible click did not bother her in the slightest. Unfortunately she is in sleep mode now so training will need to wait.

All grown up now at 16 months.

Barry is a dude, he just likes to stretch out, act all cool and, of course, be handsome. He still likes to be all cute and have a cuddle with me, but usually first thing in the morning when no one is watching.
