Show us your kitty cats

Sorry to hear about your loss Tachyon :(

Lovely pics in here lately.

As for collars, I recommend these ones:

We also bought this toy recently:

Sprite doesn't seem too bothered about it, plays with it for minute or so at times, she just seems more intrigued by it. TC would have had it destroyed within a day!

We had been thinking of a cat tree too but don't think Sprite would make use of it, TC might have but again not 100% sure if he would have either...

Nexus - while circumstances are of course different I'm aware of the pain and the grieving you're going through. Just before Easter we lost our cat "Spike" due to old age (he was 18 and a half) and I'm only too aware how quickly they become members of the family.

All I can add is try to remember the good times you and TC shared over five years - RIP TC :(

Really sad news Nexus, RIP TC. :(

Lovely looking cat.

Awe mate that's horrible. I genuinely well up a bit when I read news like that, I'm a big soft git who loves cats :(

Thanks for the kind words.

Still miss him as well as the "routine" of having him i.e. going out every night at about 23.30/00.00 to bring him in for the night and then having him wake me up at about 2/3 or 6/7 (depending on the time of year) to let him out. Part of me still can't believe that it has happened, when looking out the windows, I just keep thinking that I will see him. So many unique things about him that I loved, my neighbours and I always thought of him to be half cat and half dog, he was that unusual, even the vets commented on him being different to your usual cat type.

Unfortunately he came to us as a stray so we could never keep him indoors like our other cat Sprite, like most other cats, when it was raining, he would always want to be in though.

How he was taken from us makes it a lot harder to come to terms with it especially as he was a young healthy happy cat. We always thought he had good road sense as he was afraid of cars and when loud vehicles came he would race round to the back door wanting in. Unfortunately our area has got so much worse for traffic over the last few years and with other cats (he was very defensive of his territory with other cats) in the neighbourhood, his chances reduced each year. I was speaking to a neighbour last night and their 2 year old cat got knocked down on the same road on Monday night there... fortunately he survived, as the guy approached him, the cat ran off, still had to go to the vet though, at least the person stopped and was devastated about what had happened. It is only a matter of time until an adult or more likely a kid gets badly injured or even killed... No speed bumps at all and no one or any cameras etc. to enforce the speed limit.

I have got a lot of happy and loving memories of TC but I have also got so many regrets, I wish I spent more time in the evening with him and on that day... I think of all the 'what ifs' i.e. if I went out to look for him, if I tried bringing him back in the house earlier on that day etc.

I have been keeping myself distracted ever since and just trying to think of all the good times with him. It is hard being in the house and even the neighbourhood as you have so many reminders of him.

He use to always take my PC chair, which meant I had to use the crap chair beside him

Back when he got his front right paw cut, even with the E-collar on, he could still clean his paw and get to the stitches so I had to extend it with a bit of cardboard :p

Love my other cat to bits, however, she is so different to TC, so timid and nowhere as friendly but lovely in her own way.

I was looking through some photos of TC and came across photos of Sprite as a kitten with her brother (Max) and mum (Pepsi), unfortunately Max was killed on the same road as TC and Pepsi went missing not long after. We only knew them for a couple of months.

Max and Pepsi weren't our cats, they belonged to a family in the cul-de-sac opposite us, they were away on holiday and had left the grandfather to look after them, however, he didn't have a clue, they were kept outside at all times with only access to a garden shed that had a tiny bed and a bowl of can food, which wasn't broken up and covered in blue bottles.... A few weeks later Pepsi brought her litter of kittens to our doorstep after we had been feeding them when they followed us home one night, once the owners got back home, they looked after the cats and kittens, although Pepsi & Max still came to our house:

We even knew Sprite's dad, Cola:

He was very timid and very rarely came around, he was also killed on the same road as the other 2, they were away on holiday (this was another holiday at a later date) and had left him in a cattery for 1 or 2 weeks this time and when they got back, the bathroom window was left open so he got out.

Ours love the cats meow toy. It keeps Barry entertained for hours, he hasn't figured out how to switch it on though so he sits meowing at it until Poppy comes along and sits in the middle if it. She appears to have figured that doing so turns it on. Great toy.

How much do you guys feed your cats? I have a 16 month old cat and we have always fed him 1 pouch (100g) of wet food over 4 meals, supplemented with dry biscuits.

He seems a decent weight at around 5kg but he's always eagar for his food when it's meal time.

2 pouches a day for my medium size female cat (18 months old).

She snacks on dry food overnight, which I remove come morning. Sometimes she doesn't finish the 2nd pouch by evening, so eats this overnight instead of the dry.

No way could she eat 3-4 pouches. Maybe a male ragdoll or maine **** could?

seems they have changed the amount, i know they used to say 3-4 on the box

Feedings instructions: A 4 kg cat requires 2 pouches + 15 g Whiskas® dry per day. Adjust the amount of food to the level of activity and body condition of your cat. Fresh water should always be available. For more information on feeding your cat, please contact our Consumer Careline

EDIT: or maybe i was thinking of Felix, they suggest 3-4 a day

Feeding guide for an average adult cat (1-7 years, 4kg)

3-4 pouches per day in at least 2 separate meals.

Grown up cats get one pouch twice a day, and then a handful of dry food overnight. Plus they have biscuits down all the time which I just top up when they're gone.

Kitten gets about 4 meals a day, smaller in size. He's still taking about a day and a half to get through a packet of wet, but eats more dry food as he seems to prefer it.

Plus they all steal each others food, if I'm not refereeing! :D

We feed ours a full pouch each for breakfast with a few biscuits mixed in. Then they dont get anything till I get home and they get given just a few biscuits as a snack if they are around. Then at night time they get a handful of biscuits each around 9-10PM and get locked in for the night.

We used to do dry food in the mornings and wet food in the evening but both of them started leaving it and wanting to go out first thing in the morning instead. They were being fed by one of the neighbours it seems, so we now give them the tasty pouches first so they dont clear off and start scoffing the neighbours food! :p

Seems to be working well as our one cat has lost the weight he needed to (about 1KG).

We dont leave food down in the house because neighbourhood cats were coming in for it while were were out at work (and spraying too).

Whiskey gets:

Weekdays (dry only): 25g before work (7:30), 20-25g when we get home (17:30-18:00) and 25g before bed (22:30-23:30)

Weekends: 1 pouch when we get up (8:00-9:00), a sprinkling of dry in the evening (17:00-18:00) and 1 pouch before bed (22:30-00:00)

That is an interesting feeding pattern. I'm curious to know why you feed your cat differently at a weekend? Is it simply you like to chuck a few biscuits out and dash out the door in the week, or is your cat just a Diva and demands a certain feeding pattern? :p

Took a picture of an orange my missus sabotaged to try and cheer me up for breakfast before work, and caught the Cat in the background looking gormless!

He's not great with wet food, tends to be a little picky sometimes and can just leave half a bowl all day and it dries up. So only really has it when we're there.

He's a little bit of a diva though. Only eats expensive stuff, tuna, chicken and as a rare treat, cheese! :p
We have these salmon treats at the moment, Jesus i've never seen a cat go this crazy over a treat before. He bats your hand so hard to get at it quicker and tries to climb/jump up your leg even though he's 4.5Kg!
