Show us your kitty cats

We have just given Ronnie a worm tablet - Wife got it from the Vet's - it is a Milbemax for 4-8 Kg cat's and cost a wopping £6.50 for one.

What does everyone else use that is a sensible price - So far after quick search on web I found one Milbemax at £4.45 but not sure if that includes postage.

Vet's certainly have you by short and curlies

Oh - even crushing it and mixing it with sauce in his cat food he tasted it and left it so small spoon of single cream helped it down but he still left some.

Fussy little buggers cats. - Has to be the only advantage of having a Dog - they eat anything.

we use drontal cat for the wormer

To administer it get a 'Buster Pill Giver' - its like a syringe that you put the pill in the top of, put that in their mouth and 'fire' it down the back of the throat - works a charm :)

We just pick up whatever is in Pets at home or Asda, Bob Martin stuff and it's £6 or so. I hate paying so much for it but they can't exactly buy it themselves can they.

Also buying vet diet royal canin sachets via the vet which are £10 or so for 12. That's with a 20% discount.

Having to buy a fancy bowl that will only let Poppy eat normal food, Oliver keeps munching Poppy's when she's not looking. She has a mouthful or two then goes out for a pee, comes back in to finish it and he's demolished it.

She can eat his GI stuff but won't, he's not meant to eat normal food, but tries to, so that's the reason behind it. £100 for fancy bowl to match the £80 cat flap that is meant to pick up chips but gets 'locked' by moving the litter bin :D

Had to save a small mouse last night too, Poppy was on the floor sleeping with her face looking down the side of my pc tower. Strange I thought, I'll pull it out to see if there was a nice spider for her. As I moved it out Oliver jumps in behind the tower and grabs a mouse in his mouth and makes a run for it.

Managed to get it out of his mouth after he pretended to be a scary cat growling away. Both of them were not amused that it was gone and kept looking around the pc as if it would suddenly appear.

I will pay the £6.50 but was just wondering if it could be cheaper elsewhere.

Our Ronnie is a mouser - he came home the other morning with a big one and dropped it outside back door and came in to be fed - we went out leaving it where it was - come back and it was gone - checked cameras and a pair of Magpies had dropped in for it.

Only problem is with his hunting he gets fleas

Phate - lovely pair of kittens :):)

Thanks :)

The other night I could've sworn out of the corner of my eye I saw Hobbes jump DOWN from the kitchen side. But thought I was imagining things and carried on. This morning however my gf witnesed Hobbes jump from the kitchen table to the kitchen side and only just missed

Nothing is safe...

Has anyone got tips on worming solutions for fussy eaters? Jeff wont touch food with a broken up tablet orworming powder in it.

Hes a big sod as well so trying to force feed him a tablet is proving difficult!

He`s also a lazy sod!

With Tony it normally turned into a bit of a wrestling match. I would sit with my legs around his body, scruff him with one hand and then hold the tablet with the others and use a couple of fingers to wedge his mouth open, drop it in. Hold his mouth shut and then massage his throat for a good few minutes till I was sure he had swallowed it.

Sometimes resulted in a hiss and usually resulted in him throwing a strop. But it was necessary, and it worked.

Someone else mentioned about a device which shoots it down their throat, that sounds pretty good.

We have the same problem with our Jade (looks very much like your Jeff too). After trying many times but with only partial success, even with one of those syringe type things we have given up on pills. For one thing it stresses the cats out too much and another is that we value the skin on our hands, arms and anywhere else within reach of freshly sharpened razor sharp claws. We now get Profender spot on from the vets at something like £4.67 a pipette (something like that as it cost's less than a tenner for both cats). Out vet's practice is very reasonable on their pricing though.

yer the pill giver is the only way we can give ours pills, he'll eat around pills and spit them out in anything else. I sneak up on him with the pill giver and its down his throat before he knows whats hit him :D

annoying american demo with an amazingly chilled cat:

The spot on wormers aren't as effective as the tablet ones... don't cover all types of worms apparently.

I use advocate as it does fleas and some worms, then I have a quarterly tablet to give which does the other worm types, so I only have to get a tablet down them once every few months. I just end up pinning them down with the tablet ready to fire in.

Just showed it to wife - She said that cat must be sedated - Like her to come do that to Holly - only has small paws but claws are like razers.

I think I would struggle with this also, Jeff fights like he is possessed just from using flea treatment on the back of his neck.

Hmm, need to do a little experimenting I think with crushed tablets, maybe hidden in something yummy.

It took two people (one vet, one nurse) to give my old cat a tablet, so the best way I found to give him medication was to crush the tablet as much as I could, and put it into raw liver.
He was absolutely mad for liver so it got nom nommed straight away along with the meds.

Either get the vet to do it for you (which is what I did for my 2 the other week but I was there with them getting their injections so it was just easier) or wait until the cat is asleep and then pill them.

They will still be half asleep and not know whats hit them. This is what I have resorted to on occasions. Also keep a hold of their scruff, they are less likely to act out. Good luck!
