Show us your kitty cats

What you can't see in pictures easily is the Bengal "glitter" effect. She literally "shines" in the right light.

The spots are even better underneath

The GF has always had cats but when she moved in I was against the idea of having one. I'm wasn't, and never have been, a cat person. Until now.

When we got her we asked all the pertinent questions. Is she over 8 weeks old? Has she been weaned? Vet checked? Wormed? And so on. The GF spoke to the breeder and he sounded friendly and knowledgeable.

Then we got there. What a dump! Poor kitten was sitting in a shoebox and clung on to the GF for dear life. Needless to say we didn't want to leave her there so we had here.

Straight to the vets who confirmed she was perfectly healthy but was only 5 or 6 weeks old at the most and weighed 450 grams. Fortunately she was eating well and had been toilet trained.

Three weeks later she's just under a 1KG so putting on weight well. First vaccinations done and she's back next week for flea treatment (preventative, she doesn't have any) as they wouldn't do it earlier due to weight.

Being so young she seems to have two modes -

Run, bite, jump, pounce, repeat.

or

Alseep.

Haha these two make us laugh every single day :D

They'll be 6ish-7 months old in Feb. Booking them in to have their balls off soon.

Hey folks, my two kittens are about ready to venture outside (6 months, both neutered), so I need to get insurance sorted.

After learning the hard way with my last kitty who came home with a broken leg one day and no insurance, that little episode cost us £1000, so insurance is a must this time!

We were with petplan before and they were great, but they seem a bit pricey now... what insurance companies are you all using and are there any that do multi-pet discounts?

We're with pet plan and I agree they are pricey. Ours have gone up considerably every year. I'm considering changing to a cheaper company. Sure, petplan gives me peace of mind that they deal directly with the vets etc, but for the sake of waiting a couple of weeks for a pay out I can be saving myself £20+ a month.

Shout if you want a referral to petplan. Can get you two months free. Yes they do multipet discount. :)

Our trip to Shropshire Cat Rescue Center.

Yesterday wife and myself went to the above center to see Lilly a cat wife has sponsored for ten years -- Lilly first arrived at center at age of three and was in poor health -- after lots of TLC and medication she is as well as she is going to be and on medication for life and is now a permanent resident there. -- So wife thought it was time to go see her.

They kept her locked in till we got there and took us to see her - what a lovely little black and white cat she is.

Lilly lives in a half sized summer house along with a few other cats - it has a cat flap and these cats are free to roam - hence why they locked her in for us. - as we walked towards Cat Village all these cats followed us- - all shapes and sizes - all residents of the home.

This area also held the Hospital and birth/kitten huts and feed stores etc -- Then we went through into Village -- A large wired compound with all these small summerhouses all with bunk beds and baskets -- Covered loo and heaters - all have power and beds have heated pads. - The cats can please themselves which bed they sleep in and they roam around the compound - One came to greet us talking it's head off - very vocal -- all were friendly.

All together this whole site must have been over 2 acres - They also had chickens and rabbit's and there was benches all over the place for visitors to sit and play with cats.

Once we got back to main entrance area we were shown a few other huts with the wire walkways inside for newcomers and one was a small Siamese who had lost all but four of her teeth and wife was told to go in and sit on chair -- as soon as she sat down this cat was on her lap and snuggled up under her coat just under her armpit and there she would have stayed all day -- she hung on like glue when we went to leave -- had to unhook her from wife's jumper.

I have probably missed a lot out but when I started and went to preview it - OCUk wouldn't load so had to print screen all text then retype it back into the post - Can you copy and paste on here - would have helped.

It wasn't till I got home I thought should have taken camera - I don't carry a smart phone.
