Show us your kitty cats

It goes round and round and round!

Just curious if anyone has managed to convert an older cat into an indoor cat? We're moving house soon, and worried that our cat might wander into the busy dual carriageway nearby.

It is certainly possible but be prepared for a lot of whining and that is just you.
I have relatively busy road very close by and have pretty much taught Millie not to go near it, though I suspect she taught herself.
Your cat will not be happy for quite some time to be confined to the house after being an outdoor cat and may never settle.

She's 12, so she's whingey anyway :p

We need to keep her in for a while anyway when we move, we've been advised for an older cat it should be upto a month to allow her to learn all the smells of the new house. We're getting a pheromone diffuser to try to help her settle and not get stressed, but I'm most concerned for the busy road. We've got a few ideas to try to keep her away from that side - but just worried in case she wanders out too far :(

Ronnie seems to be getting better - He bought me my evening meal in tonight which was good of him - Vet also rang asking if he was OK - we haven't heard him cough at all and he has taken his steroid tablets every day. He does seem subdued a bit but if he is hunting again then I take that as a good sign. vet says after his last two tablets we need to see if he coughs again - if not then I will be happy - For anyone who missed it the vet recons he has asthma - Did I say all the women at vets wanted to take him home - he was a big hit with them.

Another good thing the insurance company agreed to pay for the diagnosis of the asthma which was a great help - Just hope he doesn't cough again.

You cannot beat the kindness of cats that they take the time to hunt down food for their owners. Mine does it all the time but for some reason her offerings are not welcomed by my better half, but I think she is too fussy.

Oscar is going through snap collars like no tomorrow. Normally it is fine because we usually find them again but as of late he seems to be losing them outside the garden. Its odd because he doesn't seem to mind wearing them and sticks his neck onto to an open collar, letting you fit it. It is definitely tight enough (can just get a finger or two under it).

I can't give him non snap ones as i have caught him crying early morning with it in his mouth forcing his jaw open (like a ball gag :p) and his head. I don't want him to get into that situation away from the garden/house in case he panics and goes into the road or injures himself.

The bell seems to alert some birds so they can make their escape and so he can be identified easier if he went missing, as often people cba to take them to a vet.

I have taken a few cats back home in the past that have managed to get into my car/house and live more than just a few roads over. I have also used a collar of a dead cat left on the side of the road to inform the owners. Plenty people don't stop at all, so i imagine far fewer than those that stop are willing to drive it to the vet to have its chip identified

Just had a first tonight.

Was in lounge reading paper when we heard this noise in kitchen - wife goes in and she shouts me - heard some doors shut and got in there and there was Ronnie and a Magpie face to face on worktop - Magpie jumped up onto top of door so wife stood between door and wall and I poked magpie up bum and he flew off through door and porch. - I don't think there is much that all our cat's over the years haven't caught.

At least it is a good sign Ronnie is on the mend - He seems to have perked up now his pills have finished.

How am I supposed to get anything done

I know the feeling. I was trying to play some games last night and I ended up with a dog sat on my lap (Border Collie who doesn't know his size), one cat trying to sit on my keyboard and the other rolling around behind me making stupid noises.
