Show us your kitty cats

Is your cat wasted, shocked or generally dopey looking? :-)

The last time she did it was a delight. She came right downstairs and basically sicked up a massive cat poo/dog vomit hybrid.

Gross... I basically have a standing agreement that I have to tidy all cat mess of any kind (wife didnt want cats really).. so I wouldnt fancy that kind of mess ... Lucky my cats only eat mice, cat food and chips!

Ronnie is BANNED

Walked into the hall only to see a mouse run into one of the bedrooms.

Two traps down and door shut - Just hope I get it before bed time. Little bugger

My Jade is still hanging in there somehow although it's been touch and go. It's been a very emotional roller coaster over the past two weeks. As of last Sunday she had hardly eaten anything for six days, just some treats and picking at the odd bit of food. Her main bed is on the floor next to me in our bedroom and Sunday night I got into bed and looked down at her. She looked at me and she looked so sad it instantly made tears stream down my face and I decided enough is enough and would phone the vets on Monday to bring her Thursday appointment forward as it was time to let go. I cried myself to sleep that night. Phoned the vets and the earliest they could fit her in was Tuesday so we had a day left where it was all about Jade and spoiled her rotten even more than usual. Monday night she ate half a pouch of food. I did her breakfast on Tuesday morning and over a couple of hours she ate three quarters of a pouch and had perked up a lot. After a bit of a heart to heart I decided to cancel the vet appointment and go back to the already booked two week appointment on Thursday. Tuesday and Wednesday she ate around a pouch and a half of wet food as well as a decent amount of Pro Plan dry food.

She had her two week check up at the vets yesterday and has lost another 400g so is 4kg on the dot now. The vet gave her another two week antibiotic injection along with a vitamin injection and we go back in another two weeks unless something happens before then. The poor girl has lost so much weight but somehow she is still as cheerful as ever. Yesterday she wacked Wispa from next door over the head with her paw as he got too close and she did the same as well as a huge hiss at Abby (my other cat) who was annoying her. I had a theory that as she was picking at her food and only going for plain chicken or beef that the smell/taste of other stuff was making her feel sick so I bought a few pouches of the Pro Plan vet diet renal wet food as it's quite bland. I remembered that Garfield used to like it being zapped in the microwave for 20 seconds on full power so did the same and Jade ate half the pouch in one go. That was the most she had eaten in one go for weeks as usually I have to keep waving the bowl under her nose to get her to eat. A couple of hours later she had cleared the bowl so I will order a couple of boxes online for her. If we can get some of that weight back on it would be good for her. I know it's only delaying the inevitable but despite everything she is still bright and cheerful right now so it's not that time just yet. Jade was our first cat and at 15 years old is not really that old for a cat. One of my neighbours has three over 20, two of which are 22 years old (brothers, Sid and Charlie). My babies mean so much to me and I will be devastated when jade finally joins Garfield in kitty heaven.

Here's Jade chilling out a few months ago.

I can totally sympathize with you @pastymuncher It's a horrible situation to be in, and I'm going through a very similar situation with our cat Meg at the moment (just waiting on the biopsy results now). Just keep doing what you're doing and making Jade as comfortable as possible. If you haven't already tried it, then I found to get Meg to eat I had to break up some of her favourite treats and sprinkle them on top of the food to get her to eat.

Thank you for the kind words. It is a terrible place to be as I feel so damn useless because I can't make things better. This is my second cat to have kidney related problems, we lost Garfield last December after finding that he had terminal kidney disease. He was normal for several months after being diagnosed and then suddenly he crashed from which there was no coming back. Jade on the other hand one day she was fine the next there was something very wrong. She had a good night and ate almost a whole pouch of the ProPlan vet diet food and she ate a decent amount of normal wet food for breakfast. I am ordering more of the vet diet food for her as she seems to like it so hopefully she will put some weight back on. Both cats are miserable at the moment as it's raining so Abby has gone back to bed and Jade is behind me looking out the window and getting some fresh air.

A few of Lola again....the way she looks at me, she knows she's a little princess. She lvoes to steal human blankets and sleep by or on my feet.

Anyone seen any pet insurance offers/vouchers/cashback or have referrals atm? Need to renew by next week.

Edit - very random - if I tell the insurance company I donated £25 for her, then the insurance is £11/m. If I put down £50, then it's £9/m. Why does purchase/donation price have an effect on insurance costs???

After two fruitless days of setting traps for Ronnies mouse - God sent me peanut butter and had to scrounge that off a neighbour.
Laced traps with it last night and bingo - one dead mouse so put it out through the bedroom window as it was 5.30 this morning meaning to get rid of it when got up but was beaten to it by Magpies or crows - only trap left.

SamX - you can't beat a black and white cat can you -he looks so soft and cuddly and spotlessly clean - Ronnie just doesn't care most time but his colour makes him look a bit grubby. :)
