The problem is down to the vets, apparently. Most vets are not independent and there has been some concern that the large companies have been using their strong positions to force people in to paying significantly higher prices - which is reflected in insurance costs.
Out vets is independant and very reasonable, in fact much cheaper than some of the prices I have seen people have to pay on here. I am in two minds whether to tell them to stick it and put the money in a bank account every year just for unexpected cat bills. It's like they increase it by silly amounts each year so that by the time the cats are 5-6 years old it's too expensive to pay the premiums and people cancel the cover. That way the insurance companies reaped the premiums when the cats were young and won't have to pay out when the cats are older and more likely to need treatment. It's all a con.
