Sure sign winter is closing in - Ronnie is sprawled out in front of wood stove and you could almost toast a slice of bread on his coat he is that hot.
Years ago at old house we had a cat called Tiggy - she loved the fire and all we had to do was grab her paws and roll he over out of the way - make fire up and roll her back - she never opened her eyes.
that brought back memories
think i made this for a laugh the year
it hit 40c here

Why do I keep falling for it? My big furball, Ozzy the deciever, rolls over when I walk up to him and wants a belly rub. I oblige and rub his furry warm belly while he purrs away. After 20 seconds or so the claws come out and the paws wrap around my hand so I can't pull it away and then the bugger bends double and starts chewing on my hand, all while purring. Eventually I retrieve my hand which is now covered in scratch marks that have drawn blood. He does this everytime yet I still fall for it!! I love my three babies, they are my world yet I keep falling for their tricks. Is it because this is the time I hope he won't do it even though I do it without thinking or more likely is that the cat master race has me trained so well I do things automatically? Probably the latter if I'm honest. The people who say women can wrap a man around their little finger have most likely never had a cat!! Now I am off to put some germoline on my wounds.

Freeze your hand and don't move its the movement they're reacting to, once he relaxes withdraw or go in for another bout if you feel like playing russian roulette with your hand. Exposing belly the most vunerable part is a sign of complete trust but its not an invitation lol

You would have to be a first class masochist
To freeze your hand and don't move
If my bloody great 10kg lump of cat gets you
To fall for the please rub my belly
Ironically I did actually name him tiny lol
Not knowing how huge he would eventually grow to
But once those front claws are hooked in your hand
No amount of freeze and don't move
Is stopping the back claws raking your wrist and forearm
And the teeth from gnawing your fingers
Like a dog with its favourite bone

Anyone new comes in the house
It's literally the first thing I have to tell them
For God's sake don't stroke the cats belly

I don't have a lot of choice but to freeze my hand as his claws (which are very long and very sharp) have dug in and it's impossible to get the hand back out. It's even worse when the back legs join in and do that scraping thing that they do. All I can do is not move the hand and talk to him telling him no and ah ah ah (really should be aarrggh aarrgghh aarrggh) and he lets go quickly enough. I then go off and clean up my wounds!! He just looks so cute when he rolls upside down and looks at me, I can't resist giving him a belly rub. Perhaps I should invest in a pair of those gloves they use for putting up barbed wire!!

The purring is a giveaway. He's playing. Unfortunately, some cats are a little rough when they play.

I have one that doesn't know that claws can be retracted! The only thing you can do is avoid the situation.

Oh good grief. My neighbour lost two cats in a month. Both died of age related problems within weeks of each other. It's bad enough losing one, or even two in the same year, but two in a month is terrible.

On the silver lining, the local strays have taken note of the vacancies and are on especially good behaviour.

It's the way I try to see this sort of thing. When they bounce off over the rainbow bridge, it's horrible to see them go, but then it's an opportunity to help more hapless kitties out.

That's fifty percent heavier than either of my 2 1/2 year olds.

Even Thomas, a five year old stray that visits, is only 5Kg, and he is a monster.
Bluey is a big lad :p

He uses his size to his advantage when he wants the hammock that's for sure. Just plants his arse on poor snoozing Bella and forces her out.

Blimey
If 5-6kg is a monster
Not sure what to call mine
Tiny definitely turned out to be a misnomer though
He was pushing close to 10kg on the last
Vet check up
He is a bit chubby probably could lose 1 kg
but hes just large always amazes me when he stretches out
just how long he is
He's also very tall stood head and shoulders
Above the old boy I lost recently
Was quite comical to see them side by side
With tiny dwarfing kodi

Is it orange with black stipes?

Lol no
Have actually stroked one of those though
He was probably in the 250kg range
Sadly can't find the photos
Probably still got them somewhere
But I am terrible for storing stuff but not naming it
Making finding them years later
Somewhat challenging

I met one one of the orange variety, and I admire your courage. I was struck by the size and this overwhelming feeling of "I wouldn't even be a large snack" ... and have never gone near one ever again.

Yeah this was a fully grown male bengal tiger
The sheer size and latent power
Of it was truly amazing to behold in person
As you said one look at it and you instantly know
If it wanted to it could dispose of you in an instant
Not sure if I was courageous or stupid
