Show us your kitty cats

My dog and the cats (I have 4 of them) all hate the fireworks.

The cats will all be sleeping somewhere around the bungalow and a firework will go off and then all of then break for it and scatter around, the dog just starts barking at them.

Mine got locked in last night. Including a stray. Sorry, buddy, you timed it badly so you got an enforced sleep-in.
It wasn't too bad. Unfortunately, it always seems to be the worst offender, that lets his fireworks off randomly before the 5th, is the one that always catches me by surprise.

I have had quite a few going off around here since Friday.

It seems like because fireworks night is a Thursday and does not fall on a weekend people are setting them off early and I am sure they will still be going off next weekend as well.

Ron came in at 11pm was outside with it all for 6 hours. He's not getting let out after 3pm at all for the next few days. We don't have people who would celebrate diwali in the area, just wait till bonfire night. Fireworks should be illegal at all other times of the year for public use.

Ozzy came back in at 07.35 this morning but I went upstairs just now and he was nowhere to be seen so I presumed he went back out. Our cats have all turned into stealth cats as most of the time they manage to come and go without making a noise with the cat flap, not even hearing it lock itself again (microchip flap). I sat at my desk and was browsing the forum only to feel pain in my left foot as a paws worth of very long sharp claws dug in. After recovering from the shock I wheeled my chair back only to see a pair of eyes reflecting back at me. The part of my desk that my pc sits on has a cubby hole around 6" tall, 48" deep and 48" wide and there was Ozzy stretched out under there ready to "ambush" my foot so that's another set of cuts on my foot. I have to have eyes everywhere to keep on top of these heathens of mine!!

I expect there'll be a fireworks-related petition we can sign on the gov petitions site before long.
Here we go:

My Bonnie was euthanised this morning. 14 years and 8 months though we only rescued her 3 years ago so only had her for her retirement.

Pretty heartbreaking. She started being unwell a month or so ago when a sore opened on her back leg. She had been on antibiotics and was starting to improve but over the last week rapidly deterierated. We think it may have been pretty agressive cancer.

A photo from the week we got her. Settled in rather quickly.

Awww, may she rest in peace. :(

@Firestar_3x

How you doing buddy? Just wanted to see if you're ok chap :/

@subbytna thanks!

We ended up going away to the Lake District for 3 nights to get out of the house, it was the right move tbh as otherwise i'd just be thinking about it.

Come back still sad but in a slightly better place / frame of mind.

May she rest in peace. Glad you got away, the house feels so different without them around doesn't it?

so sorry to hear that, she was an awesome looking kitty :(

Sure sign winter is closing in - Ronnie is sprawled out in front of wood stove and you could almost toast a slice of bread on his coat he is that hot.
Years ago at old house we had a cat called Tiggy - she loved the fire and all we had to do was grab her paws and roll he over out of the way - make fire up and roll her back - she never opened her eyes.

So the inevitable day has come, Casey is being put to sleep today at 3pm after giving us all of her love and some terror over the past 13 years.

Upset isn't a word which covers this, she will be badly missed and i suspect both dogs will be searching for her in the coming weeks.

I won't however miss her trying to murder me on the stairs most days.

The household is very sad already, dreading 3pm :( xxx

So sorry, When I had to have my 12 year old boy put to sleep last Xmas it absolutely broke me. They can drive you mad sometimes, like with assassination attempts on the stairs or waking you up at 4am by tossing a mouse around on you bed, my new boy threw it on my head last week, thankfully it was dead and still in one piece. He looked proper chuffed with himself when I flicked the light on. Even with those things they still fill your heart with joy and are so badly missed when they go. RIP Casey :(
