Show Us Your Motors!

Just about all the engine parts, and most of the rest of the parts in the car, are still labelled FIAT. Is the Ypsilon really the base on which the 500 is made?

I think it's more the other way around, the 500 platform was used for the ypsilon (as well as the ka!)

Abarth 595 Competizione

Don't defend your choice :) Love my Abarth 500, yes some people make comments that it's a girls car until you put the foot down and then suddenly conversation turns to omg what's in that etc, Everyone I've taken out in mine have been impressed by how well it handles and drives, go kart on wheels springs to mind.

I didn't enjoy the noise the Monza makes and i didn't like the 4 exhausts out the back, Went with the Magneti Marelli Bombardone exhaust, not too loud that it annoys the neighbours but enough noise when you put the foot down and like yours making it pop on the upshift puts a smile on my face.

In what sense would we be better off? Surely people wanting new cars is good for our car industry in the UK?

People would still want new cars for the warranty benefits, the "new" facelifts, entire new models, etc.

What they would no longer want (and never should have wanted), is a new plastic rectangle with two digits that represent the year or purchase.

no but people like have as new car as they can afford, I have a 2015 car but Im thinking of buying the same 2016 car.
Wait, aren't you a student doctor who lives in digs and is constantly complaining about their pay? Or am I getting you confused with someone else.

True, but we all know that people like to show off how new their car is. If you take that away it may impact car sales.

Call it strange or sad or whatever you like, but people like other people to know how new their car is. I can't see any justification to take that away from them.
