Show Us Your Motors!

I did 13 miles this morning in traffic with my 3.5L V6 heavy vehicle and got 27mpg (US) 32mpg UK. Even in stop start I can't get lower than 24mpg UK :P

Thanks guys! I was given a saloon e350d as a courtesy car while my A was in for some repairs. While it was very fast, it reinforced why I'm not a fan of saloon models. Its a shame that the pics don't show it popping but they were taken from Karspa's facebook page and then they were taken with a phone camera. That being said, I don't know how to take a good photo either!

Got all the new fancy e class features on it? Kept seeing the advert at the cinema showing some of them off.

This is what it has on it: Premium Plus pack

  • Electric drivers seat & exterior mirrors with memory
  • Panoramic sliding sunroof
  • Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus
  • LED Intelligent Light System - high-performance headlamps
  • Burmester® surround sound system
  • HANDS-FREE ACCESS
  • KEYLESS-GO
  • KEYLESS-GO Comfort Package
  • MULTIBEAM LED

As well as 3 stage heated seats, automated parking features, DAB radio, Command, 12 in Digital Display. I didn't go for the advanced parking feature or the driver safety stuff.

Why isn't it an E350 :(

Big 4 cylinder executive saloons make me sad.

Other than the engine that car is absolutely wonderful.
G30 has better quality plastics! Seriously, have a feel under that wooden panel, sharp bendy plastic on the edge. It's better in the S, but still surprisingly flexy.

Anyway, reasons for a 4-cyl - price, economy, tax insurance.. I'd have loved a 3.0 Quattro Auto rather than a crummy 4-pot manual but fuel consumption, insurance and tax were just more than I was prepared to pay for a mile-munching diesel.

One thing that's interesting is people saying OMG the E looks SO MUCH BETTER than the C.
Uwotm8? They're nigh-on identical other than that chrome bar under the rear window and a prettier grille/headlight combo.

The all new 220d is a good engine, feels quite brisk and you can genuinely get 70-75mpg if you feather the throttle. The current E350 is the old engine, it's currently being updated to a new straight six unit I believe.

The new 9 speed box is much, much better than the old one too. More like a ZF.

Is consumption that different? Mine isn't much thirstier than the 4.
Depends on your driving profile I guess. I'm certain that in town driving, a 4-cyl will be significantly more economical. And if your commute is mainly stop/start town driving, could make a big difference.
I know that we've discussed in the past that if you're only doing town driving then your annual mileage won't be so high, but if it's your only driving, it makes a difference surely?
