It really does highlight the insecurities of others, doesn't it?

I find it hard to imagine how much stick at work he was receiving for him to get rid of it though? Like, for me, I'd have kept it even longer because of the abuse. If you get rid of it, 'they've' won?
Thing is he is 6ft1, skinhead and is well built as he practically lives in the gym so he's quite an intimidating fella looks wise yet he still got a ton of abuse driving his MX5 around especially with the top down. He got sworn at numerous times by van drivers for no reason at all. And as for the stick in work it was mainly banter but it really annoyed him that people were mocking his car so he just had enough and got rid.
I really don't get why the MX5 gets that abuse about being a woman's car etc it's not like it's a Fiat 500 or something and anyone who knows cars will know what a great drivers car they are. I doubt anyone driving the new MX5 will get abuse as it's a great looking car that does look more manly compared to the older gen

I've never had another single motorist give me abuse while on the road for driving an MX5. The obligatory jokes are made by a couple of colleagues and friends every now and again and that's in jest

Probably depends on location aswell. Him driving around in his Mx5 with the top down was like a red rag to a bull for abuse. Mainly from chavs in white vans with not much else to do mind

When I took my MX5 to work, a couple of people commented "ooh that's a lovely looking car! We must be paying you too much!"

It cost me £1900 and was probably the least valuable car in the car park

I've had abuse in my girlfriends daihatsu copen... Now sure enough that car is super girly and tiny but I still did not expect abuse from a typical white van man, not that I care to be honest but it does happen.

Stop whining, princess.

Just Googled Daihatsu Copen  now that makes the MX5 look as manly as a 6.0 litre Dodge Challenger :p
End of the day nobody should get any abuse for what car they choose to drive. Without stereotyping a lot of high vis wearing White van men are often bullies on the road always driving aggressively looking for confrontations shouting abuse at people. They normally have 2 or 3 of them in the van hence the reason they feel hard enough to shout **** at people.

I had nothing but compliments when I had an MX-5 - red convertible, primarily from women who loved it! And people who don't know anything about cars..

Never had anything nice to say about the Subaru mind :p

It's weird how people react to you having a nice car

Some guy walked past me whilst parked in the GTR yesterday and gave me the filthiest look of disgust. He continued walking backwards with the same look on his face. I was very tempted to wind the window down and ask what the problem was.

I'm also regularly finding people craning their necks to see who's driving the beast. Very odd behaviour I must say.

Picked it up Monday, took this Tuesday which looked okay on the phone but quality isn't great once I see it on the PC, will get some proper shots when my friend has free time with his DSLR :D

100 Miles in now and loved every one of them.
