As said, the ideal bank robbers car. Point and squirt and let 4wd and dsg do its thing.

Crazy fast with basic mods. Looking forward to getting my cupra with the same engine soon (albeit, 2wd and non dsg so it will be a fair bit slower but still looking forward to it).

Yep perfect bank robbery car, easy to drive fast, stupidly fast and all wheel drive traction.

Here is the performance upto 130mph:

Like I say acceleration is quite relentless, remarkable for a 2.0l twist and **** engine.
I timed that at approx 13 seconds to the indicated 130mph

Is it the same chassis as the TT? :p

No idea buddy, I would have though TT, S3, Golf, Cupra is all same chassis, but not up on my VAG stuff. I did consider RS3 or TT RS as even more bonkers in a straight line, but found the balance/handling not as good and the Golf just seems a much better bargain value for money wise.

But the new RS3 (400PS) with a stage 1 remap are doing 10.5s in the quarter mile, they are truly insanely quick things.

Gives you an idea, AWD and DSG makes going fast, very easy.

Bloomin 'eck

I always lose track with Gibbo and his cars, is this Golf a stop gap until the 2018 Mustang arrives?

Yep stop gap until MY18 arrival, its a quick little thing, I will never under estimate a Golf or S3, ever again as some minor fettling makes them pretty rapid.

Interesting, I was discussing with a guy at work who’s driven both the Golf R and TTS. Said the Golf R was hands down the better driven car and just felt more fun.

Maybe Audi just dial in some dullness, I really do not know m8. All I can say is the Golf likes to be driven hard like the EVO did, you can really keep it on the power through a corner and the front-end is superb on the car, understeer is minimal.

Anyway some VBOX fun attached, when a Golf R for less than £1500 spent gives GTR levels of performance, in fact GTR beating performance you really cannot complain, especially when it can still return 30mpg in town and 40mpg+ on a run. As people requested pictures, well here ya go, not exactly a car but an accurate tool for measuring cars performance:
