The 1.4 cod engine is very good, but anylag will be down to the dsg gearbox not the cylinders deactivating/reactivating. I had a A3 saloon with the 140ps engine and found it to be smooth, quiet and extremely refined and my mpg urban sat at 40mpg, however this was mated to the manual gearbox so expect the mpg to be lower with a dsg.
The newer dsg gearboxes are seven speed and have a model number of dq381, I have the longitudinal version and it is very good and by all reports well mated to the 1.4...

They're not original, but having seen the car in the flesh, they do suit it very well.

thanks, I don't regret getting them, think they suit the car really well and it gets comments all the time so I can't be the only one.

Wheels look a bit odd too. It's a shame really as there tend to be less and less original examples around these days.

They're not standard :) It's 90% stock, the little changes I made to it have been just that, little.

gear knob, headunit, lip(5mins on/off), wheels and exhaust(4 nuts and it's back to stock)

rest is standard. I've kept all the original parts in case future owner wants them.

I wouldn't classify it as ruined, personalized yes but you'll see that with most cars approaching 10 years + but then again I can't argue with taste, I like how it looks/sounds and drives.

I like everything about the new Disco until you get to that asymmetric rear. Ruins what would otherwise be a good looking car. :(

I will eventually also post what I've just bought in here - not that it's hugely interesting - but just haven't had the time. Leon SC with the 1.4TSI that has ACT and the 7-speed DSG. Averaged 52.5MPG last week in some free-flowing and stop-start traffic on the A1. Quite an upgrade from 32MPG in the Cooper S! :D

I must admit when I saw one on the road for the first time my reaction was WTF have they done to the rear? Did someone take half a day off when they were finishing the design? It's like 1/3 black and 2/3 whatever the actual colour is.

Edit: oh I'm not referring to the Disco, I'm referring to the Velar. They look so similar.

The problem I have with JLR cars is they seem to be a generation behind the German manufacturers with regards to infotainment and interior designs. Also the lead time on most of their line up is 30+ weeks !!!

interiors imo are fine, infotainment has always been crap in most cars.. theirs has been especially bad but latest ones seem to be alright.

still, hate that even basics controls are going touch sensitive..

I don't know why manufacturers are using them so much. Touchscreens are great when stationary or if you're the passenger, **** for the driver. :(

I agree, I find touch screens annoying and distracting to use while driving.

Honestly I am so happy with the Audi Virtual Cockpit. It takes a week or so to get used to the screen being in the dash right in front of you. But once you do and you drive another car with the standard media screen in the middle of dash, it feels ancient.

Also all the controls in the Audi have a tactile feel...its great.

The voice control in the G30 5 Series looks like it works well. Much quicker than navigating menus and putting the postcode in. Just say 'Navigate to Location' and 'yes' when the menu shows the destination.

I guess it’s good, it reminds me of a 2010 Jaguar XJ.

I bought this a couple of weeks ago to add to my growing fleet of crap 90's Japanese cars. Only put it on the road this week but I quite like it so far.

Smeared some Vaselene over my camera lens so I didn't have to use an Instagram filter.
