Show Us Your Motors!

Merry xmas! :)

Can you even drive performance cars properly over there? I was there once 10 years ago and police and limits were pretty strict! What about parts availability?

It's fairly strict but just like here there are good roads you can open it up on :) There are also plenty of Audi dealerships in NZ. There's at least two in Wellington where I am an they charge just as ridiculously as they do here.

Quick scan on autotrader has quite a few for mid 40's - a manual too! The one @AmDaMan has bought is still there for not far off. They have really come down in price and seem like a solid investment at that price!

Had a look on AT after pistonheads and saw a couple at that price. Very appealing indeed! I wouldn’t ever class the R8 as an investment after @Housey ’s experience with running costs! There aren’t many ways to get into a V10 sports car and this has to be the cheapest by far! Before anyone says M5/6 that’s not a sports car in my eyes (albeit awesome).

v8 from what I understand is very reliable but v10 of course is the one you want!

I’d not want one without a robust warranty. Small things come with big ticket prices on what is a bespoke supercar to all intents and purposes. I’m aware of manual gearboxes being swapped out on v10’s as well as the STronic in mine. My advice is find a good specialist if you can. I can recommend a good one in the UK who prepares cars can travels down NZ way to rebuild them.

Any specialists in the Staffs area @Housey, or would you always suggest using this ex Audi Tech that you were talking about at Curborough?

yeah if you could flick me those details that would be good - also can you link me to your running costs thread? That would be interesting. From what i've researched though these should be fairly reliable minus the mag rides and this one has had the fronts done at least! Third party warranties are about 1.5k in NZ but have a cap of 5k per claim. Should take the sting out of it anyway.

Better than nothing, but 5k can get consumed easily. My gearbox was 23 grand! Will dig out details.

I am not aware of any in Staffs and I use RE Performance in Swindon. Ricky is buildng his business but specialises in the V10 and building very high performance versions too. He worked for Audi (not a dealer) as an engineer and transmission expert and has a growing business and a good reputation.

New daily, the E36 has a buddy now... :D

Bought this Sat morning. 2014 (64) Kia Sportage 3 ISG.

This replaces the 15 year old Ssangyong Rexton which finally died. This is for family duties and ferrying the dogs around.

Quite like it, got lots of kit on it. Mrs HB is pleased with it.
