The old(ish) bus had a bit of a misadventure recently, which despite being at very low speed and with not much in the way actual panel damage other than scratching has ended up with what pretty much amounts to a full respray (literally only the boot and rear bumper not done), so has been away for over a month now.

Pictured in the natural home of a Ford, against a suspiciously seedy background:

Glad to have it back, probably the only car I've had that I still like after well over 3 years of ownership now

truth be known, i buy and sell plant (diggers etc) but more recently want to look into specialist cars and even a bit of every day stuff, nothing much maybe a stock holding of 5-10 cars 10-20k ... as a side line. I have a lad who works for me who used to do cars so he's up for it and we aka my guys who work for me, are all petrol heads. We have a fully equipped workshop, trained mechanics etc.

so today i bought a car at BCA which was after my own heart. Now these things i dont ever see going down and they are big £ now.

E46 M3 Manual, FSH, 80k miles nice tidy car. I think it needs a clutch and disks / pads but i also think the margin is there to do it. We bought it today at about 10AM and by 2pm I was driving it back, very lucky, no faults a all, quarter of a tank to get me home and just zero things to worry about. The clutch I could probably get away with (will see) but the disks and pads I think will pay to change them

I might document the process on here. See how it goes The big issue is we are already busy lol

Also yes, I bought it completely blind.

Very nice, is it rust free on the arches and no visible oil leaks? If your mechanics have time do rod bearings as parts are cheap, labour that is costly, flog it as rust free, oil leak free and rod bearings and major service done should fetch decent money.

Its early days but from arch level there is zero rust, not even a hint of it. The battery space was full of water from what i assume is a broken or missing rear light seal. There's bits to do. Its a good project for me to look at as plant is our number one so when i have these ideas we need to put them to practice of making is sustainable and workaround what we already do. One issue is i am very OCD so already want it to be perfect but its unlikely it will be 1000%. We will see

Best of luck with that, always wanted an E46 M3, one of those never meet your heroes situations.

Might be a daft question but why would you pay someone to change the pads and disks when you have your own workshop full of trained mechanics? Is it just because their labour is worth more focused on the plant business?

his name is Monty

I always forget these exists and when I see one, I'm reminded, oh yeah, that was a thing.

Hasn't aged too poorly actually, wonder if they'll become a classic in many years down the line.

@Regy53 ; How did you purchase at BCA at the moment? I am getting so frustrated at the online sales only, and the need to be a trader to register for online bidding! :(

I had one years ago, it still drives very nice and is nippy enough. What i mean it will pay to change them is it will be wise to change them, we will do it here, I have recently bought installed a car ramp for us to use

I have a motor trade insurance for the business, so I just registered as a trader. The online thing is ok but it is risky buying unseen. I do it everyday with plant so am a bit used to it. I just went with my gut on this one. IT wasnt cheap so anybody buying at auction expecting cheap cars think again. The only thing i have seen with value is a Renault sport Megan that went for 4 k under retail.

See where we struggle to by plant right now as there’s just a general shortage, at BCA alone the beginning to the week there was 24000 cars to auction . Got to be some gems in there
The annoying thing is, i only want to buy one car! So frustrating that the general public cannot buy at the moment.

If you fancy a small margin on a 2015 958.2 Cayenne 3.0 with pan roof, dark exterior and light interior, please be in touch :p
