This won’t be to everyone’s taste, but it would be boring if we all liked the same things :p. It’s just returned from having PPF and ceramic coating applied:

Really enjoying how it drives.

Despite @pugheaven warning me off, I finally went a little mad and bought a near twenty year old BMW X5 4.4i Sport. One owner from new, full service history, 90k miles, in great condition.

Had it for about a month now, put about 1500 miles on it, and enjoying every journey :D

Hahahaha nice moves man, hey you've just got bigger shinier balls than me, it's a shed load of 4x4 for the money!!! Just look after it mate, if it needs something do it, don't leave it longer than it should. Looks a cracker though tbh... 1 owner from new, wow, very very sweet!!!

Without a doubt now better than factory, Ceramic is amazing isn't it... it really does show paint at it's finest, best thing I did to my SRT8 earlier in the year in the right sun they just pop! BTW, Although I wasn't fussed on the new Type R (we owned the FN2), it's growing on me big time and that colour is beautiful!!!

Way I looked at it, time is getting short to own a V8, and this one just kept drawing me back. It's been spoilt it's whole life, so I won't change that now :D

First purchase will be a new set of tyres ready for winter.

Exactly it's why I bough the SRT8 mate, limited and I really think by end of 2023/2024, I don't think they'll be a new V8 produced... you're like me, I've never owned one... had all sorts of engines, 4cyl, 4cyl Turbo, 4cyl Twin Webber Carbs, three V6s (one super charged, one turboed) and of course a Rotary... BUT I'd never owned a V8... and if it wasn't a TVR V8, it HAD to be a Hemi for me!!!

Enjoy mate and keep us updated on how it fairs you could have one of those pick of the bunch ones... some good apples some bad apples... however it will be expensive hahaha... but hey, who cares, only live once fella!

You're right, it really is better than factory condition now. It's surprising how poor the paint condition can be, simply from rolling out of the factory and getting transported to the dealer for a PDI and a sit in a compound/showroom.

Ideally this is the condition all new cars should be in, when you pick them up. Maybe it is the case for RRs and Bentleys

Unfortunately car dealerships contract out the bodywork prep to companies who employ workers as cheaply as they can. These 'valeters' often have contracts with many dealerships within the area they are based and in the process of prepping vehicles introduce more issues, scratches and swirls, than the car originally had when leaving a factory.
I let none of them anywhere near my vehicles..

Some independent high end dealers are better. My local detailer has contracts with a few and preps the cars for sale for them. Mainly range rovers and porsches. they all look stunning when they leave him.

Merc have already signalled any V8's for 2022 are cancelled due to various supply issues etc. I think they've taken the bullet and that's that now.

Edit: Just to qualify the above, article is about USA:
