I remember when you could buy a Lamborghini Countach LP5000 for about £60k. That was in 1999 ish if I remember correctly.
How about a Lotus Carlton for £10k? That was around the same time. Eprits were peanuts too.

Lotus Carlton is pretty much my hero car. My next door neighbour had one when I was a kid. Traded it in for an Omega MV6 when new :o.

I've always used citrus juice as a pre-wash. Although snowfoam might get your neighbours attention I'd never let a power washer anywhere near my vehicle's...

Why? They are perfectly safe unless you have peeling paintwork/alloys etc, and don't use a super high power industrial one.

I agree though that most snowfoam is largely a waste of time, only a few really work well and only if mixed properly etc.

25k on a s2000 is hard to swallow really when even stuff like a E92 M3 with a very similar engine but just better in every way a a car is available ( no top down but that was never its appeal for me)

I really need to get mine back on the road. Think it hasn’t moved in 2.5years

The only s2000 commanding £25k (and thats asking price and doesnt mean it will sell at that as its £4k overpriced even to the current market) are stupidly low mileage ones with 25k miles on or less.

I couldnt find an E92 convertible with anything like as few miles as the high price s2000 go for. In general, like for like I would say there is at least a £5-10k gap between an s2000 and a e92 atm. Looking at low mileage e92 m3 they all seem to be between £35k and £40k. Opening it up to 50000 miles and they are all around £30k

And I also take issue that an e92 M3 is a car better in every way. Certainly in looks its a much worse car IMO.

Plus I suspect the running costs of an E92 M3 are a lot higher than a s2000 as well (maintenance wise)

Yea comparing top condition s2k with a high milage e92 M3 is not the way forward.

Mine has done 35k and I'd probably ask around 20k for it.. looking at the market what appeared and what sold, 20k would be fine.

I can't think of a car I'd replace it with for 20k tho, not much around that has that same feel.

I have both. The M3 is an S4000 with a roof, not interested in a convertible BMW

But you have to agree, mileage for mileage, there is still a £10k or more difference between them so you would expect to get more for your extra £10k?

And thats a lot of difference at the price ranges we are talking about.

All I said was someone paying 25k for an s2000 is crazy. I know asking prices of everything has gone up but are things actually moving at these prices. Even 20k for a 15yr old Honda is hard to buy as a car to own. Sure they are an investment.

interesting times ahead though with the end of interesting ICE cars on the horizon

m3s we’re going for 20k a few weeks ago. Seems everyone’s jumping in the used car band wagon as I was surprised to see 20k cars now asking for 25k

20K S2K is super low mileage 987 Booster S territory however which is a bit mad. You cannot say a 300HP naturally aspirated flat six isn't boring either :p.

equally I would say somebody paying £40k for a 10 year M3 is just as mad........................

But yeah as we get nearer to no ICE cars, some cars with great ICE engines are going to do nothing but sky rocket.

I can see a time when immaculate low mileage s2000s might be changing hands for £50k a peice. Old M3s will do nothing but appreciate as well (the looked after ones that is)

I know, funny how some cars are worth more than others. A quick look suggests the like for like on mileage and age a S2000 will always cost you more to buy than a 997. And yet the gulf between them new was a lot.

The good 997’s have also rocketed in value, I sold my 997.1 C2S with aero kit I think for around 28k, 30k tops, same spec and condition today is 40k plus abs the newer 997.2 models without engine issues have shot up a lot.

I know this as I’ve been trying to hunt down a Cayman R and a year ago you could get a manual car for around 35k whereas today it’s gonna cost you 50k.

Vales are on the up on many cars. Some more so than others.

A little random but did you happen to be in Hitchin with the Corvette Saturday just gone?

Saw a Pace Car Corvette parked up along Hermitage Road, along with a few hot rods and other random cars, and did wonder if it was yours or not. Looked amazing either way

Probably even more.. US has gone crazy. Ropey high milage s2ks are 25k.. the lower milage clubracers(we didn't get them in UK) area 100k USD.

25,000 mile good examples in US are now 50k, same is just starting to happen with 458’s state side with values going north of $250,000 so with any luck in 9-12 months same will kick in here too as S2000, 458 and LFA all share that incredible 9000+ rpm NA engines.

I'm still just absolutely confused as to why they listed this for so little, every similar car on the AUC network is a solid £4-5k more and actually selling!

RE remap, yes, aftermarket remaps will easily get it over 400, but I want to maintain the warranty - the m performance power and sound kit is dealer fit and doesn't impact it at all, and this officially takes it to 360. By all accounts it's an absolutely excellent exhaust from a performance PoV (lots of people get this kit and then do an aftermarket remap as it's the best exhaust available). Apparently, they actually push ~380-390 after the remap despite the official figures being 360, and that'd be more than enough. Even then, I'd be weighing up fitting the dealer-fit m performance LSD rather than adding more power...
How did you manage to find that 440 so quickly / before anyone else got it?

Those would most likely be going to/from the NSRA Hot Rod Supernationals at Old Warden. :)
