Show Us Your Motors!

Rolling with the windows up and the system down!

Had to swap cars on the M5 after it dropped a load of coolant on the motorway. D’oh.

yes bud she runs fantastic all brakes are good and decent tyres with great tread too.
new battery and belts been done.
clutch bite is as soon as you lift a little on the pedal so that must have been done recently.

around town this morning and a few miles out she got 52mpg so i imagine on the motorway a lot more.
everything works even nice cold aircon.

needs a little touch up of paint on one arch and a scratch on the drivers door but not bad will sort that easily.
and then polish headlights up.

this is before i hoovered and wiped the inside.
mats have been jetwashed now and the carpets and seats are all like new.

Sounds like a great buy, have not long started contemplating a cheap car for cheaper commuting mpg etc when the office opens back up again more frequently; sounds like an Accord could be a good contender :)

So reliable those 7th gen Accords, our old 2.0i would have comfortably hit over 200k before we got rid, and all that was ever done was basic maintenance and servicing. I currently have the 8th gen Accord 2.4i, And honestly I think the 7th Gen cars have a nicer, less complicated and more well put together interior than the newer car.

£4.5k!

I was offered one of these for £50 once and turned it down...

Reverse of that - my late grandparents used to have a couple of T2 VW campers - they got moved on for about £500 a few years ago - these days one of them would go for £50K :s (the other not so much).

Seeing a lot of cars of this kind of era cropping up on sale recently - I guess people encouraged by the prices a lot of stuff is going for. There is a 89 plate Ford Fiesta up for sale near where I work: https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202112060260402
£4.5k!! The interior is considerably fresher than ours that’s for sure! They are certainly of their time, the drive isn’t sporty or rewarding!

havent seen an Escort in aaaaaaages !
i cant remeber when i saw them on the road, been years
So many more appreciative waves when driving the escort than the 911. They really are a rare sight… especially in 1.3 Finesse trim! It’s been rubbish since the day it left the factory, but the rarity makes up for it these days.

It's useful to have an Autopass for all the tolls, it means you get the best rate for your vehicle, I've read you can get charged higher rates when they don't know the emissions class just based on a foreign plate, the invoice could also take a very long time to arrive. Makes all the fjord ferry crossings easier. Also, if you are travelling up via Denmark and Sweden across the bridges, then I signed up for Oresund bropas, it gives you half price discount on the two toll bridges so pays for itself on a round trip and you get an autopass/bizz included in the price (no extra delivery charge to UK, took about a week to arrive). Makes the toll booths much easier when you can just drive through the bizz/autopass lane.

If you have done any driving around North Germany you may already know, but factor in losing an hour around hamburg when working out journey times. It always seems to be worse going south than north for me, but I factor it in both ways anyway.

More related to Norway, be careful planning routes on small roads that cross between the main roads, they can often be little more than gravel tracks. Same goes for some of the roads to the more remote viewpoints (all the main tourist ones are fine though).

It takes at least 2 days to get to Norway. I stopped over in Germany and Sweden on the way up and Denmark and Belgium on the way back.

Also with regards the Atlantic Road, it's well worth doing the whole thing from Bud to Kristiansund, not just the bridges in the middle.

I did Trollstigen in 2019, it's quite narrow and very busy, worth the visit once, but I wasn't bothered about going back. I believe they've had a land slip that closed the visitors centre (possibly the road too) there in the last year.

The road from Dombas to Andalsnes is also a fantastic road, we then took the road from Andalsnes around the end of the fjord to Afarnes before travelling on to Molde and then Bud. My friends (who are Norwegian) said it's the route all the car clubs take and I can see why.

We stayed the night in Valsøya, great location, you can camp, motorhome, or stay in the wooden "cabin" apartments there, we did the latter before travelling on to Trondheim the next day.
Nice! Just drove up to Sandnessjøen and back in a box van helping a mate move back home. Would love to do it again in my Caterham one day. Will be much more fun :D

Hi there

Spent last couple of evenings machine polishing the Corvette, I only did the one pass with the polishing compound, did not use the deep cut like I did on the M3 due to this car having softer paint and been fibreglass body I took no risk.

Still the results are incredible, the car was rather swirly and I'd say the swirls have reduced by around 2/3 and have given the car a much deeper gloss.

Looks brill. What’s your go to single stage compound?

I’ve used Scholl S20 Black a few times and quite like it

I am new to this so can't really offer any form of comparison.

I am using the Cartec compounds:

I have the 3000 and the 9000 as I got the starter kit as seemed good value.

On the M3 I did a pass using the 3000 on the green pad which seem to effectively remove deep scratches and most the swirling, I then did a pass with the 9000 which improved the gloss and removed the remaining swirls.

On the Corvette I did a single pass with the 9000 using the white finer pad.

I found the 3000 very effective on the M3 but also very dusty.
The 9000 seemed a joy to use, no dust. Both removed very easily wiping with a cloth.

I then coated them with Meguiars Si02 wax compound for protection and then sprayed Autobrite Magiseal sealant the next day.

Just about to tick over to 10k, 4k in the 6 months I've had it. Mountune M330 map has been flawless so far, getting wheel chirp when flooring it in 3rd is amusing. Going in for a service in a couple of weeks and having a set of colder plugs and some yellow stuffs fitted so it can stop as well as it goes.

Still think those are great wheels. The only Ford wheels I have seen in memory of modern Fords that look properly good. Basically the CSL wheel for Fords. Just the right size for the body too.

Edit* Swiftkey!
