17 plate n-vision spec, colour not my thing. In the long run will likely go back to a Tiguan but wanted something that did considerably more than 30MPG in the current climate LOL.

(In case anyone was wondering I still have the pickup)

It's useful to have an Autopass for all the tolls, it means you get the best rate for your vehicle, I've read you can get charged higher rates when they don't know the emissions class just based on a foreign plate, the invoice could also take a very long time to arrive. Makes all the fjord ferry crossings easier. Also, if you are travelling up via Denmark and Sweden across the bridges, then I signed up for Oresund bropas, it gives you half price discount on the two toll bridges so pays for itself on a round trip and you get an autopass/bizz included in the price (no extra delivery charge to UK, took about a week to arrive). Makes the toll booths much easier when you can just drive through the bizz/autopass lane.

If you have done any driving around North Germany you may already know, but factor in losing an hour around hamburg when working out journey times. It always seems to be worse going south than north for me, but I factor it in both ways anyway.

More related to Norway, be careful planning routes on small roads that cross between the main roads, they can often be little more than gravel tracks. Same goes for some of the roads to the more remote viewpoints (all the main tourist ones are fine though).

It takes at least 2 days to get to Norway. I stopped over in Germany and Sweden on the way up and Denmark and Belgium on the way back.

Also with regards the Atlantic Road, it's well worth doing the whole thing from Bud to Kristiansund, not just the bridges in the middle.

I did Trollstigen in 2019, it's quite narrow and very busy, worth the visit once, but I wasn't bothered about going back. I believe they've had a land slip that closed the visitors centre (possibly the road too) there in the last year.

The road from Dombas to Andalsnes is also a fantastic road, we then took the road from Andalsnes around the end of the fjord to Afarnes before travelling on to Molde and then Bud. My friends (who are Norwegian) said it's the route all the car clubs take and I can see why.

We stayed the night in Valsøya, great location, you can camp, motorhome, or stay in the wooden "cabin" apartments there, we did the latter before travelling on to Trondheim the next day.

I've had a skeleton plan to drive to the Arctic Circle for years and years. Then I saw Harry Metcalfe do it on his YT channel and that spurred me on even more. I'd already intended to do Dombas to Molde to Kristiansund and on to Trondheim but I didn't realise it was worth going via Bud so that's good to know :)

I should probably add, the weather can be unpredictable, although I couldn't have asked for better weather this time.

I was supposed to go do the Atlantic Road in 2019, but it was snowing North of the turn off for Trollstigen ...in July.... We saw -1C crossing the mountains East of Dombas on the way back in 2019.

Fortunately this time it was more like 20 C.

I think August is a more reliable month for warmer weather, but it's also busier.

Long story short but I was working to some time constraints due to vehicle problems and the QQ was available right away from a dealer near me I use regularly, full service history and zero problems in 40K miles.
 
bought a trusty little run around for 1k have to say impressed with it.
2006 model even has touch screen sat nav.




A grand for a trusty and decent Honda, absolute bargain that I say if its in good running condition, these things tend to just keep running!

yes bud she runs fantastic all brakes are good and decent tyres with great tread too.
new battery and belts been done.
clutch bite is as soon as you lift a little on the pedal so that must have been done recently.

around town this morning and a few miles out she got 52mpg so i imagine on the motorway a lot more.
everything works even nice cold aircon.

needs a little touch up of paint on one arch and a scratch on the drivers door but not bad will sort that easily.
and then polish headlights up.

this is before i hoovered and wiped the inside.
mats have been jetwashed now and the carpets and seats are all like new.
