Fun fact windows XP wallpaper is the most viewed photo of all time.

Fun fact it was taken on a film camera and Bill Gates picked it personally and paid the guy $100,000 and he had to fly the original picture over to Microsoft headquarters as no courier was prepared to take the package.

Compare that to the photographer who did the autumn background on windows 10 who got paid just $35 as his was picked from a picture selling website.

Yes. Its a nightmare though unless you can find the original car spec build sheet and I dont think insurance companies should be able to get away with it. years ago i bought a used ford escort and the insurance company pointed out i hadn't been honest as i hadn't declared the sunroof. Turns out it wasnt factory fitted even though it was an option and was fitted later. it was a genuine ford one.
I will tell them later this week I am swapping to another OEM alloy (there are 4 OEM types for my car) after the new alloys are fitted. They can have whatever details they want if they ask (I doubt they will bother somehow as OEM). If they want to increase the premium I will instantly cancel my insurance & go elsewhere!

OEM for OEM, not a chance I am informing insurance. Ford Escort with a sunroof is a complete outlier and lacks any context. If the part was OEM how would they even know unless they had reason to investigate?

The flip side of not mentioning optional extras - expect a harder time if you're arguing about write off payments and you didn't tell them you had £8,000 worth of factory extras that you're expecting them to pay out on :p

Some how they must have got the original build details and their argument was that it made the car "more desirable" to be stolen and hence I should have declared this extra when i insured it.

Perhaps things have changed now as this was 25 years ago.

But it probably makes mroe of a difference than ever now. Dead easy, especially with the likes of Porsche, to add £40k in options which definitely negatively affects the insurance company if they have to pay out for the car if stolen/written off.

Yep that's Buttertubs, we did the lot! Stayed outside Maccelsfield, got up early and did Cat and Fiddle, Winnats Pass, Snake Pass, Holme Moss Summit, Ribblehead Viaduct, Buttertubs, Tan Hill Inn, then up to Penrith for fuel and on to the Hartside Pass and a selection of roads in the Pennines. Stayed near Darlington overnight then headed back down south the next day, with one last Pennines drive on the way down, it was awesome, 890 mile round trip! :D
Apologies for bringing up an old post but how does one get involved in drives like this? Are there driving groups that people join or is it literally just local friends you know and go for a driving trip?

And do you have to have a certain car to take part in? :D

So that particular weekend was a private thing arranged by myself and a friend, but I met the guys I drive with via the RoadStr app originally. We still use the app, did a huge C&M run just this weekend, but we do also arrange things privately.

Take a look at Roadstr or Car Calendar, see what's happening around your area and go meet people. :)

As for what car, that's part of it, there is a huge mix, a bit of everything.

Fair. I was coming from a position of my old Fiesta with a few ST bits bolted on. But yeah, a Porsche can go insanely over list price. I wonder how they do that - as all they have is reg? Perhaps average price? :S

It's probably where you answer what the market value of the car is. In the event of total loss/theft etc, you'd have to submit evidence to counter their usually comically low first offer of payout.

Another addition to my little collection, I got into the habit of watching barn finds on YouTube and decided I needed a classic in my life, if anything for the experience and I love it!

I opted for a Ford Capri, MK3, 1984 2.0 Pinto engine 90k miles, has had the shell fully restored. Spent today getting to the bottom of a misfire, new plugs, dizzy cap ignition lead and some carb fiddling and it's gone! The simplicity of these cars is a joy, I am going to get it to a pro for a carb tune up / service soon however, but I've learnt a hell of a lot the last couple of days. It's been wonderful

Excuse the interior messyness, big interior detail to come soon, get those old fabric Recaros up to scratch.

There's just so much space around the engine on old cars. You hardly have to remove anything to gain access to everything else.

So got the new alloys fitted yesterday then like a good little citizen  I phoned the insurance company up before driving ..... they told me to fill in online the changes...so I did that & they charged me another £9.50 to amend the policy but did not even want any details on the alloys whatsoever!

Put a deposit down on this yesterday, will be getting it this week. I'm crossing everything it's not a basket case example . 476bhp standard, this 1 has had 4k's worth of go faster mods :D

Edit: my head has overcome my heart and i'm pretty certain i'm backing out of this deal, too much risk :(
