Ask the dealer and read the manual.

I didn't want to read the manual! But I did ask the dealer and they said that's not really a thing any more but to not have too much fun for the first 100 or so miles

Edit: The A1 has evolved into the S1. Will need to level up work harder to be able to afford the 3rd evolution.

I'm not very good at taking car photos

Off to pick the new car up in about 20 minutes. Having never owned a brand new car before am I right in thinking I need to drive sensibly for the first few hundred/thousand miles? Or is that not needed that much in this day and age?

Take it easy on revs, I’d avoid over 4K for first 600miles but on the basis those miles are a good range of speeds and load. Ie don’t just sit on cruise for 600miles and 70mph thinking that’s taking all the high spots off piston rings etc. (which is where high revs is painful)

You can't be doing too badly if you can stomach the depreciation on a brand new car :) is it an S1 or an S3?

Oops, I meant S3. I'm not doing too badly but I'm not gucci belt owner!

To be honest. As long as you have a decent credit rating it seems like they're falling over themselves to let plebs like myself finance a car. They're not really the luxury items they used to be. Well, not at this range anyway.

Yeah I would run in carefully tbh......on my RS took 3K miles to fully run in! First 600 miles then 1200 then 1800 do not go above a certain RPM. Then I took it easy up to 3K miles before unleashing full power just to ensure the engine will give max life.

Not sure the dealer knows what he is talking about as most cars need running in for a good while!!

Do you have any interior photos?

I can take some? Didn't really think people would be interested of the inside of what is essentially an A3 lol

One thing I HATE so far. They've changed the gear selector to this stupid little nipple flap thing. Feels super emasculating using it and feels like I need Jeremy beadles hand

Yea, but what's the % you signed up to?

The simplicity and cleanliness of the engine bay is something else

It is lovely isn't it. It's had a few nice mods too, battery relocated to the boot helps clean the engine bay up nicely, plus the twin 40's look (and sound) superb too. I had a drive of it and it's great fun. Plenty of little jobs to keep the old man busy on it but overall it's a nice car.
