Picked up an MX5 over the weekend :D

Will get better pics soon, just took it out for its first drive with my son to get the ice creams!

Take heed of the reg plate :) not usually a fan of personal plates but that ones quite fitting

*Just noticed my boy looks asleep. Lol
Nice :)

My dad had a MX5 NA back in 2015. That was my gateway into being a petrolhead, maybe it'll be the same story for your son :)

SVT sounds right! Yours looked great :)

With regard to such issues as the chassis rails, are these things picked up on MOTs? I'm guessing maybe not if hidden behind loads of stuff.

They guy rarely used it in recent years, been kept garaged and SORN'd over the winters. Not necessarily always a good thing, lack of use I mean but hopefully I don't run in to any issues there.

Unfortunately not always as the issue can be well hidden by covers.

I actually offloaded mine because despite being near mint condition up top, the rails were starting to go.

There are companies that specialise in repairing them if it comes to it though. TheMX5Restorer is my go-to.

Eek, I have been filled with much confidence:D
Joking aside I appreciate the advise. Kind of went in semi blind so Hopefully not too bad. I have asked a customer if we can get it up on his ramp over the coming weeks and see what we can see.

I'm booked in there for a full underside strip and reseal including taking the back bumper where the crash bar reacts with the chassis and rots. Hopefully they don't find any holes, but at least it'll be at the right place.

Can I ask what such work would cost? Approx if you don't mind sharing, no worries if not :)

£800, they have the car for 3 days. Pricing is up on their website.

Thanks :) hmm 3-4hrs from me.

Looks like the MK2 is a little cheaper but probably more likely to find it needs more work :D

I'm not sure if I need to do the cambelt.

I think I should. It was done at approx 44,000 miles and has only covered 7,000 miles since being done. I'll check the schedule and look for the date it was carried out

Non interference engine. I always ignored mine and kept my RAC tag on my keys........ :D
That's the one! Just looked through the history! Was actually longer ago than I thought.

2012, but only covered 7-8000 miles in that time.

I do think I'll book it in, can't imagine it's too much. Will probably snap on way to work tmo

I suppose about time I posted some pictures, have had it just under a month... not as special as some of the metal in here

18 plate, various options inc sunroof, icon headlights. Initial thoughts, great car, suspension is too hard for a daily so a trip to Litchfield is on the cards. Roads around here are crap and stock suspension is a bit crap for the UK.
Luckily my commute is only 20 miles round 3-4 days a week, so fuel costs quite minimal, and we have a big boat Audi A8 in the house for the long trips as a family :)

Motorway sale should be going ahead tomorrow. I've absolutely loved this Megane, I'll miss it. But alas a PCP to go to and from work just doesn't make much sense right now.

Really enjoying the MX5. I've got it booked in for a cautionary Cambelt change and a general once over at a local specialist.

I'm going to regret this I know. Honestly the Megane is such a fun car, turns heads etc (as silly as it sounds, you just don't see them around)

P.s. I don't have a fancy double garage :D our neighbours house has been "Sold" for months, empty!
