Did the Z3M over here come with the silver thing on the boot? it looks really ugly, ruins an otherwise very cool car imo.
Yes, but the M Coupe had the numberplate under it, as opposed to on the bumper, so it didn't look anywhere near as odd.

because the number plate is in a recess lower down the bumper instead ?

Jeez your argumentative tonight fox.

So you've basically got a numberplate area with... nothing in it? Why is that?
Probably to distinguish it from the M Coupe. It's much shorter on the M, too.

Thanks for that pointless demonstration of what I already knew.

The question was 'Why did BMW chose to have different numberplate locations on different models, to the extent that one of the versions ended up with effectively two numberplate recesses, only one of which was used'.

Re my mx5 exhaust, the right side does appear a tiny bit lower. It's very secure however, I'm not sure what length I would go towards trying to rectify this, if any length at all. Personally I love the look of the exhaust, I think it gives the car a much more meaner appearance. As for the sound, its awesome! Changing it to stock would be like having it castrated imo.

the YOU part implies you were addressing the question to him as though he had to answer for its location.

Had you posted what you did 2nd time, you wouldnt come over quite as being quite so accusational.

He'd already explained an HOUR previously that it was different on the M Coupe so even if you didnt realise I knew already, the fact the post I replied to explains it should have given away the fact I... already knew, and was asking why it was so, as its pretty odd.

I've seen one or two of those Astra Turbos around and always wondered what engine they used. De-tuned Z20LET?

I do like the Astra with that kit and wheels, similar to how I liked the Mk4 GSi. Smart looking cars.

Detuned Z20LEH (VXR Engine)

Offical Code for mine is Z20LER. same management, gearbox, flywheel etc just i have balancer shafts and a little less bhp.

Interesting :)

I've seen a few unmarked Vectras used by the police sporting a Turbo badge. I take it these are also slightly under tuned compared to the VXR versions?

Z20LET is MK4 SRiT @189BHP , Coupe turbo@ 189BHP and GSI @197BHP

Z20LEL is the 170 BHP MK5 astra in 3dr or 5dr, no xp on 5 dr, only available on 3 door with 170bhp.

Z20LER is the 200 BHP MK5 only available with the XP and 5DR. no 200bhp option for 3drs

Z20LEH is the 240 BHP MK5 3 DR VXR
