Nice blurry picture of my mx5 with the new exhaust fitted

door protectors, thats gay.

What's gay is the fact that manufacturers have stopped using them. Don't forget that they can protect your car from someone else's door as well as your door from another car.

What part of the door is the rear door protector going to protect exactly? :p

Am I missing something or is that a very stupid question?

You are missing something. They are not talking about the rubbing strips, they are talking about those ridiculously stupid black things from the 80's that the previous owner has added to the door to protect the paint - the one on the back door is in a place where it would never come into contact with a wall.

I happen to agree with you entirely about rubbing strips. It's a shame they are gone and I dont know why manufacturers are obsessed with making cars slab sided trolley dink magnets these days :(

When I had my car, it had door protectors on it from a previous owner, upon taking them off (slowly), they had left deep marks in the paint. So had done more damage to the door that they would have prevented!

How much of an increase did you get?

diagnostic reading showed 178bhp and 184ftlb before going.

tested a couple of days after mapping to allow the map to settle.
showed 202 and 251, according to revo should be around 207-210 and 235-245.
might be in spec once the coils, sparks and inlet pipe are all replaced.

Pretty good, out of interest have you had any trouble with that 1.8T engine? I keep reading they're unreliable

It's the same as any engine, maintain it well and it will be fine.

Starter will go at some point, secondary air pump will probably unseal itself and just keep on top of the services.

not heard about the starter.
secondary air pump has been fine
waterpump went shortly after buying it around 30k - just out of warranty
diverter valve split shortly after
but thats been it

fixed the poor brakes that VW had as standard, even though they were for the V6 i still thought they were very poor compared to my old lude, so they have been swapped out for some porsche 996 rear callipers on uprated 312mm discs and DS2500 pads.

they are reliable engines its just poor electronics and areas of cost cutting that let them down.

2nded, stupid electrical niggles elsewhere in the car, door modules, window regulators etc.

My old skool AGU lump is rock solid @ 142k, coilpacks never fail either on these lumps, bonus lol seems be on AUM onwards they pop regularly.
