Type R looks well danza, been looking at these myself lately, can't find much wrong apart from dodgy racks and steering pulling all over the place according to many... need to still find the time to go drive a few! :)

Yeah, I saw your thread. I didn't really comment in there as other people have nailed all that you need to look out for.

My cars steering rack has been fine for the 3.5+ years I've had it (thankfully), but that's not to say it's been without trouble. The alarm mobo went spaccy and had to be replaced at a cost of £440 (pre-facelift problem only AFAIK), and I've had to fit 2 new pairs of front calipers as well (although that's partly my fault for cheaping out and buying calipers off a salvaged car in a hurry the first time round). Had a few other minor niggles, and a ~2.5K suspension repair due to sliding on the snow and hitting a kerb (wife did that one). Currently got a creaking coming from the rear, but that looks like a cheap fix one sunny afternoon (rear drop links).

The car does tramline worse since fitting wider tyres (mine has 215/45s as opposed to 205/45s), but the ride is far, far more compliant without really losing much cornering ability.

Just a case of win some lose some by the sounds of it, all in all not too bad... were you tempted to file for divorce though? :D

Been taking more notice of the prefacelift ones now, far better value it seems especially if I don't want to keep it for years, no point spending a packet for essentially the same car as one a few years older :)

Good point about the tyres, I read a lot of folks swap to that size for cost.. I will have to check tyre sizes when I view some.

Been tempted to shift the thing several times, but just haven't had a real need to. I still enjoy the VTECy0! too much! :D

I think the norm with non-standard sized tyres is to go for 215/40 fitment, as this keeps the rolling radius nearer that of the stock size than 215/45 does (although TBH there's not much in it).

My only real regret is buying a silver one, but Milano red fades badly and black would look constantly filthy (although mine was utterly disgusting up until Saturday as I hadn't washed it since last September :o ).

I think a 30th anniversary CTR would be a nice one to look out for for a pre-facelift, but I'm not sure how much of a premium they carry over the standard model. The Recaro seats of the 30th anni. model are so much nicer than the standard ones.

Here are a selection of my toys. I seem to have this habbit of collecting them and never selling them again.

Ok now....

Hi, thought I'd post up some pics before it is sold. I've had her for three years since new and I'm about to P/X it against a new car for £12k. Not bad as it only cost me £18k in the first place. She's a TiTX 2.0l Diesel that's had it's ecu worked over by Angel Tuning, so it has a little grunt available, in Tango, 18" wheels, rear spoiler with front and rear parking sensors and only 13.2k on the clock.
I know some of you might scoff at it being a Mondeo but it does get some looks:

Bought myself a set of JBL door speakers & installed them today then sat there for half an hour working out my remote control on the stereo. Then I went out for a couple of hours driving to see how it was on a good run, Alls sweet. Lovely day for a drive & with the price of fuel the roads were relatively empty.
