My new toy, no longer pristine after doing This on friday, then This on saturday, over 100miles through the dunes.
Bike is a 2011 KTM 450EXC, 4 stroke enduro bike.
Gave it a good going over with the rotary, added a good 4 layers of EGP after polishing too.
She's also had a remap now, should be putting out somewhere between 225 and 235 BHP, but need to get it on the rollers to get a better idea. Turns out that the 170BHP engine is identical (bar mapping) to the 200BHP engine as found in the A4, so it's had a remap based on it being a 200 rather than a 170, which is nice Pulls so much harder now, feels almost as quick as my LCR which weighs biblically less.
Managed to throw a bit of Wash, soap and polish over the Soarer this morning and grabbed a few pictures.
I know it has only been a week, but I am already lending towards the idea of running it for a few months and selling it back on. I simply don't think I'm going to 'gel' with it. Great car to drive, but fundamentally I'm finding it a bit... boring? That might change once I've had a chance to have a proper play with the Active suspension on a set of nice lanes, but as it stands it doesn't have the turbo nutter excitement of my old one and just feels like a comfortable old barge which is cool, but not something that is going to hold my interest for years and years to come.
As it stands right this second I think its a £1000/£1100 car all day long even with it needing a bit of bodywork (loads of paint scrapes that need touching in), but I think I'm going to be more interested in giving it a moderate/major service, getting the worst of the bodywork sorted and aiming for the upper end of the market (slightly upwards of £2,000) and waiting. I think there is a good car underneath the surface but it needs a bit of tidying to bring it out. Got to do some sums to see if it is worth just cutting and running as it is or putting the effort in to see that this car definitely stays away from a breaker's yard for a few more years .
I sold my black one because I was sick and tired of having no spare money... Then just a month later I bought this, a fully loaded V8 one as a non runner for £600 .
