Show Us Your Motors!

I bought this 18 months ago and can't believe I haven't added it in here:

The thing is, I pick my new car up in around 2 weeks time so I will have more pics to add - that will make it my 4th car since this thread started.

No fancy photography here, just my car, on a moody Scottish morning :)

Badass gangstermobile....or a 50 year old businessman's car? you decide. Two tons of pure unadulterated crisp packet reflection.

Very nice... Miss my XJ6 - the aircon was pap and it used oil - steering wheel was for giants - but it's a gorgeous car for the price.

Looks in good condition - alloys look good, I prefer Jag alloys myself but those are quite tasteful....

Thanks, the alloys weren't my personal choice, they came with the car when I bought it (although personally I like them more than all the Jaguar alloys but the old wire ones), I got it for next to nothing because the windscreen was taped on back then! Now it's through its MOT and I am sorting its other little quirks, and it's finally beginning to get used to me and feeling like my car.

You're right about the AC - it's a bit asthmatic at the best of times, but there's something cool about a car like that that can go fast but you don't even want to go fast, you just want to cruise/glide around in it instead :p

Sounds good. Enjoy it, mine had numerous "little" problems, but never anything which stopped you from driving it... pictures are on page 41 of this thread if you're interested :) Got it for £700 feb 2006 with full MOT.

Prices appear to have held, and good condition XJ40's have even appreciated slightly compared to this time last year when I bought!

That XJ6 of yours is a nice colour richolmes, what spec is/was it? Mine is a K reg 3.2, no frills in the engine department, just all the internal comforts like multichangers and whatnot. Yours looks in really good condition, not bad for £700. Mine was £550 with 98k (and new alloys on it), how many miles on yours? I have heard those AJ6's they put in them go forever. Is that what it looked like when you first got it? :p

How is/was yours for fuel economy? My figures are a little skewed because I haven't been able to take it out onto the country roads for a while and I had to make heavy use of the AC in the winter but right now the computer says 14.8mpg :o

Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec, 2002

Love it to bits :D

I had a 1.8 in that exact colour with those exact wheels, 18" TSW Pace right? Get it lowered 50mm, i went for 30mm and regretted it, it still sat a bit too high for my liking.

They are 17" Kato Enzans in hyper silver :D , I was going for 18's but heard the ride wasn't too smooth? I have some 35mm GMAX's but i'm not sure I really want to put them on after hearing they go floppy after six months lol, maybe some Eibachs :) .

Was there an image there GFX707? I can't see it :p

How did you get your car so ridiculously shiny like that?

Not sure! I drove it back from manchester so it was pretty dirty. Some soap and a sponge then just rinse it off with water then use a chamois... Nothing special :p

Mine was a 3.2 Auto too, without many of the internal comforts! No Air-con, No cruise, No CD player. Only extra option was the full cream leather as well as the usual leccy windows and mirrors. It had full MOT and a fair bit of tax at the time - so that made up for it. And yeah, that was on day of collection :)

I managed 27mpg once on a long motorway run with 5 people in the car and a full boot, cruising at 75. But i averaged around 21-22, this involved a few miles of country roads and a few miles of town most days. Worst tank was 18, don't really drive in any big towns though.

Mine was on 121k when i sold up in September - and yes, the AJ6 engines are very strong. The electrics and rust will be more of an issue than the engine!
