Siliconslave's how to make espresso thread

Don't you always buy directly from them ? (at that kind of price), even if they confirm roast date you'd want to know it had been well handled, temperature say.
How on earth did that not occur to me?! My brain just went "Can't walk to coffee shop, find another supplier".

Kicking myself now!

I tried the MC2 at the coarse settings yesterday, as coarse as it goes for V60, it's not cutting it. Still too fine I think. Plus it takes an age to twist it from one end to the other.

p.s. I do need some new beans, still trying to bring myself to spend £10.50 on 350g from Square Mile...which is absurd, if i can spend £500 no a grinder but I have a problem spending £10 on a bag of coffee!

Is it an auto grinder?
Something to remember is to bin the first grind after a change. You may have some grounds left from previous grinding

1kg from Origin - Just a 1kg bag of their San Fermin. One of the best coffee's I've had over the last couple of years, to the point that for the last 2 Third Wave Wichtelns that happened (still waiting for 2019' to happen) it's been one of the coffee's I've sent.

Finally got round to ordering some today & turns out Origin are currently running 20% off at the moment.

I ordered from Origin for the first time on Monday - the 20% off was a nice bonus.

Really enjoying their espresso blends atm.

Got my delivery from Origin today. I think I have a problem...

I think I have a problem...

I've kind of lost track myself ... can't check the reservoir fill level easily ?,
maybe once a month the pump stops during a cup, Id like it to tell me when there is less than 500ml left.

how do you keep track of the grind required for all those coffees

Used to be the shopping list, but has been repurposed :)

/\/\/\ @mid_gen I'm very curious about what is in front of the Black Eureka Mignon, Is that to catch the ground coffee? If it is, I would like to know where from & how much!

Yeah it's just a plastic box witha lid for catching the grounds, it comes with the Eureka Filtro. https://www.bellabarista.co.uk/eureka-mignon-filtro-grinder-matt-black.html

You can probably find the part number and request a spare, it fits under the regular Mignon fine.

edit : found it :

Thanks but there's no need, the shape of mine is different to yours. The front feet stick out a fair bit more on mine & the basket is not listed as a optional accessory on the product page I linked to. the basket is listed as an optional accessory on the newer Mignons & included with a few of them, so I assume they don't make a basket for mine. A pity really, because when I touch the grinder when not in use, the excess grounds fall out & land on the bedroom carpet.

/\/\ TAP is now part of the Department of Coffee & Social Affairs 'mini chain' now. Got took over about a year-18 months ago. This particular 'mini chain' has expanded rather quietly in london over that space of time, I think it's mainly when a shop has cashflow or some other financial trouble, or the previous owners have had enough & want to sell up & that's where Dept. of coffee steps in. They have a few coffee shops trading under different names in Bristol as well. Trouble is, when that happens, the service & quality start to slide, I don't like that when it happens.

Ah, I didn't realise they'd been taken over. I'm not a huge fan of the Department of Coffee & Social Affairs brand but I didn't notice any changes of note last time I was at TAP.

Offer runs until 31st May, handy as Niche has told me they should be shipping my grinder in early June!

I have 2 bags of Starbucks coffee beans to go through, good timing.

Good price at 6 quid delivered from Origin for 250g with that discount. May get a kg of the Stronghold in while the discount is still running.

Really impressed with the decaf blend from Origin, took 5-6 pulls to get right, but a really good espresso, touch of acidity, then chocolate, then the sweetness, like a candy comes through. V good, I may have found my decaf :)
