Silo - By Hugh Howey - May 5th

Ep 2. H'mmm. Not going to be a fan of having alternate episodes focusing on what's happening over in Silo 18 then cutting back to Silo 19. Would rather they mixed things up a bit.

And while the writers probably want to keep the suspense going, I really think they should be starting to show us
Silo 1 and all the oversight and political maneuverings going on over there.

Yeah, I was thinking that myself.

Well, I guess they're just doing book 1 this season still.

Why is the lighting in some AppleTV shows utterly poor?! Game of Thrones started this rubbish afaik and now various AppleTV shows starting with the last season of SEE exhibit it.

I am watching Episode 2 on my iPad (at max brightness) and the lighting in most of this episode is dire. Outdoor scenes in the first episode were fine when I watched it on my TV but indoor scenes were still really poorly lit.

I think the HDR was bugged for me in the first episode. Could barely see anything as it was so dark. Assumed it was an artistic choice but then it suddenly went bright towards the end

Tv show is making changes from the books from characters to plot points etc. Apparently Howey is heavily involved so I’m going to give it the benefit of the doubt, even if I prefer the book reasons for stuff taking place so far.

HDR was working much better for me in the latest episode, though still could have been improved to give the scenes more punch, first episode it didn't seem to work well at all.

If you don't have a decent 4K HDR display though, especially if watching on desktop with lower bitrate not even 1080p "HD" it really doesn't do this show any favours - it really needed to be filmed with better quality equipment and well done HDR to properly do it justice.

I thought Ep3 was better. It's definitely better when it swaps between the two silos.
This. As I mentioned earlier in the thread. Though I fear they may be about to simplify Solo/Jimmy's back story.
In the show he tells Juliet he hadn't explored much of the silo and rarely came out of the Ops room (which I presume is where he's living). But in Book 2 he was moving around quite a bit which was how he found the cat, Shadow. Also seemed to be cutting through the book plot to motivate Juliet that she needed to get back to Silo 19 ASAP.

I think focusing on one point of view for the first two episodes was the smart move, given the setup for the season I think it would have ended up feeling dragged out if we got snippets of each over 3-4 episodes otherwise.

That said, I'm glad they're mixing things up in EP3 and I assume going forward.

Was going to wait until S2 finished, but binged all 3 episodes tonight! I thought ep 1 was fine, ep 2 and the bridge building was not needed! But back on track for ep 3.

Was the rope cut? We have people dead outside the hatch and graffiti from the silo people, it looked from the camera angles that someone was watching them - are there still inhabitants in the silo?

Also, Juliet's Silo needs many teams to run, why do we still have light, power and oxygen in the decimated silo?

It does, but it also has the strain of a single person using power/resources.

There's certainly an argument there but I'm viewing this thus far as a very brutal testing ground for events I'm not sure the current cast are actually experiencing, I've not read the source but it feels artificial and intentional to me in the way a crazy dystopian testing ground might.
