Silo - By Hugh Howey - May 5th

Enjoyed the finale, now they know when it's going to end with s4 I'm hoping they can sort the pacing out due to how slow at times s2 has been like they were stretching out storylines purely to pad the run time.

If they can make s3 have the pacing of the last 2 episodes then it should be loads better overall.

Enjoyed this season as much as the first. The first 3 episodes didn't progress things as much as I would have liked, but the pacing got better and built really well in to the final episodes. Without some of that background from the first 5 episodes, the reactions of the main characters to what was happening at the end of the season would have felt out of character. Happy overall. Just a long wait now for Season 3.

Late to this and binged the first series a few weeks ago and watched the last few episodes of S2 yesterday

Really really enjoyed it

S3 will have a lot of cut backs to the before times to explore how the silos came to be. That’s my guess. Hopefully they can strike the right balance.

I read they toyed with having S3 as a flashback season to the whole background of the silos, but they say they have found a way to work flashbacks with the current setting. This could be messy, filler, hoping it's going to be awesome :)

TV S2 spoilers and thoughts.
I'm leaning towards the silo setup being an experiment for human survival in a nuclear holocaust. Instead of the silo's being potentially 100s of years old are instead perhaps 2 or 3 generations old and the history / rebellions / uprisings are primarily a fabrication. There was a throwaway line about introducing a targeted amnesic drug into the water system to reset or expunge memory, perhaps with the ability to incorporate new memories.

The flashback scene was interesting and hints at an undecided response to the Iranian dirty bomb, which may have been the prompt to set up the silo experiment, which may or may not have occurred in that time-line or sometime much further in to the future. The end of S1 hinted the silo project was setup in a defined location in a grid pattern which may or may not have been actual open world versus something under a dome (atmospherics are controlled / toxic).

The season did drag a little but enjoying it.

ITS ALL A DREAM

It best not be, but it would explain why I feel asleep in the middle of this series. The ending however, definitely worth waking up for.

Encouraged to see S4 is written.

I can't help but feel...

this is HEAVILY Fallout experiment influenced

Book spoiler:
From the book lore they have actually been in existence for well over 100 years, in fact much longer. The "dirty bomb" reference during the flashback scene (I'm presuming the young Senator is Donald from Book 2) was a bit skewed from the original concept. The Iranians had been rumoured to have developed some form of nano virus which, coincidentally, just happens to be the same substance used to contaminate people going out to clean, maintaining the protective cloud around the Silos and to purge any Silo that goes too far into revolution. The nuclear bombs to get people attending a political convention unwittingly at the silo sites to seek shelter underground, were actually dropped by the US air Force working for the government elements who wanted to reboot the human race in the far future.

Not a bad episode to finish on though Book One went a little further. Also fairly certain in the book, Juliette was aware that
Going back into the airlock from the outside triggered a flash burn and she had equipped herself with a fire blanket to protect from the flames. It looks as if she was wearing the firefighters' suit which I guess would have the same protection. The Mayor, wearing a non fireproof suit, in the book ended up a crispy critter and presumably will suffer the same fate in the TV show.

^ Does the second spoiler include elements from the books? I've not read them so only want thoughts milked from the TV series.

I actually hope that they do go this route, if done well it'll help a lot with the pacing issues we've been seeing imo.
