Sim racers - what are you running?

Is there a website or anything, don't use FB.
No he is only on Facebook. I'll message him for you and see if there is another way to contact him if you like?

I only got my rig recently so prices should still be current
For £180 you get his standard 40/80 rig
For 260 he'll include a single monitor mount and I think it's 320 with a triple mount.
His rigs are just aluminium profile with brackets and screws, no bells or whistles but for the money it's phenomenal value.
Plus all these other 40/80 rigs you can buy are exactly the same thing but tarted up to look a bit nicer

But if you want something from a website, then for 300 you can buy the one I mentioned earlier in the thread. They told me it would be next day delivery as well, si turnbull tends to be 1 - 2 weeks

Has anybody got a good solution for both sim and flight rig where you can have keyboard and mouse and hotas either side.

I tend to use my rig for normal computer use and sim / flight.

Most of the keyboard trays tend to fold to the side - I want something that will just have the keyboard and mouse in front but under my R9.

Any ideas?

My old Obuttu R3v was perfect for this, I was able to have the wheel fixed with a kb/mouse tray underneath, and a HOTAS in center stick all at the same time. You needed to remove the center stick to get in & out but it was a 5-10sec task. Sadly I don’t have any pics of it.

Not sure about doing it with extrusions though, it takes a lot more effort to add/remove items, but is more rigid at least. I’ve had to adjust my plans for the rig to now have a desk & rig side by side because I want both experiences, not an uncomfortable compromise.

I have seen some quick change pedal plates but agree its not good to have it all on one rig and be uncomfortable

I'm so fed up of racing at my desk. We're hopefully buying a house next year and I'm hoping to get a rig setup.

I'm currently looking at the following:

Simlab GT1 Pro cockpit
Simagic Alpha 15nm wheelbase
Simagic GT Neo wheel
Simgrade VX Pro pedals (throttle and brake only)

I race in VR so don't need monitor mounts or anything. Although I might be tempted to try triples/ultrawide at some point.

No doubt the above will change by the time I purchase, but all I can do right now is continue racing with my Moza R5 at the desk and dream of one day getting a rig. My back will definitely thank me!

That looks like a nicely balanced setup. Should be good enough that you don’t feel the need to upgrade in the future, and isn’t going to break the bank either.

For the rig, I’m always going to bring up the R—Pro at £299 delivered, all the rigs are 95% industry standard components and the other 5% is minor (pedal tray & base mount).
My reservation on the GT1 Pro is the angled upright posts, if you wanted to add an attachment that isn’t styled to match, your going to have square end extrusion that juts out rather than following the angle of the upright. I’d rather go with the cheaper Evo I think, unless there’s something about the Pro version that is special.

Oh, don’t forget to budget for the seat, too.

That's a good point about the angled upright posts. I'm assuming they've thought of that, but I've not really looked into it.

The Upshift R Pro is not something I've heard of before, but it does look like incredible value. Thanks for the recommendation.

And yes, I forgot to mention the seat. I'm tempted to get a real car seat from eBay, but don't know if mounting would be a ball ache. Just a quick look now and there's Recaro seats from Fiesta STs that can be had for about £150.

some seats will mount straight on, others won't i'm sure the information is out there in the great WWW, but I can tell you that Subara seats aren't a straight bolt on, as I found out the hard way.
a lot of people seems to be using MX5 seats or Civic type r seats

Well worth having a look on Ebay. I got myself a seat from a BMW Mini for free from a local chap. Bolted straight onto my alu rig with no modifications.

I'm considering getting the GT Omega Prime Lite; looks a lot more study and customizable.

Just figuring out what sort of PC spec I need to play at 1440p.
I have the GT omega prime, I tried my mates rig before buying and was impressed with the build quality of the prime rig, however I wasn't so impressed with the seat, it had a fair bit of flex on it so I decided to go with the Sparco R333 and it has been excellent and I would 100% recommended anyone using it on their GT omega rig. I'm using a Asetek Forte wheel base and button box and VRS pedals and primarily play in VR which I think is a total game changer for sim racing. Very much considering getting the slipangle hepatic's to add even more realism, does anyone here use it?
