Sim racers - what are you running?

Talk of closing the stable door after the horses have bolted. ROFL.

Random Callsign did a vid on this and what I have to agree with is that you can buy TM gear from many more places than Fanatec, you can just go to a bricks+mortar and pick one up or have it delivered the next day with Amazon.

Yeah, fair point for the casual gamer. No hassle with import charges either.

TM quality is still shocking - the number of people I know that had issues with TM costcutting and making parts out of shonky plastic to save 5p... which then break just out of warranty.

Casual racer probably wouldn’t buy this level of wheel though I guess?

Folks, can I ask about the difference between these two wheels
I bought the V2.0 now discontinued, but I can see the V2.5 (which only came out a few weeks/months later I think) has a bigger gear shifter/paddle.

I guess the 2.5 has this "paddle shifter module"?

Is there any difference between these two?

I see thanks MB.

Im not familiar with the QR2 system, how different is it over the one in the V2.0?
And same question about the magnetic shifter, what is the difference between it and the ones on the V2.0?

Are these game changers? Should I look to somehow sell my V2.0 and get the V2.5?

My basic set up, nothing special but is hooked up to big screen and surround sound.

QR2 - Not sure, nothing's launched with it yet! Only DD wheel bases will use QR2.

Magnetic shifter will be crisper. You can add the podium shifter module as an upgrade to your v2.0 (and the v2.5). The v2.5 magnetic shifter looks like a halfway house upgrade without the clutch paddles.

Seems like they've gone through the existing lines and bumped the older rims to use the magnetic shifters. I'm half tempted to replace my 6 year old BMW rim (that still works with a CSL DD!) with the old mushy "stirring porridge" shifters for one with the magnetics.

can you not just get one of those magnetic add-on kits from eBay/Etsy etc?

Hmm everytime I post about these bloody fanatec wheels there is something new popping up and the costs just get higher and higher.

So what is the difference between the QR system on the V2 CS wheel above I mentioned and this so called QR kit which I can buy off the fanatec website?
And in turn what is the difference between the QR1 and QR2?

Also does the CSL DD support the CS wheel formula v2.0 above? Its not very initiative or clear on their website honestly...

They have 2 and soon to be 3 versions of th QR, the plastic versions which comes with the lower end wheels (WRC and McLaren v2), the metal versions which is available separately and also comes with the mid/higher end wheels (F1 v2, Porsche etc) and the new yet to be released QR2. The QR2 is due with the super high end wheels like the M3 GT and Bentley wheel and is likely to be upgradable on the current wheels too, but will require a change to the column on the DD1/2 and CSL DD when its released.

I have the CSL DD and F1 V2 wheel and its superb on the CSL DD and works perfectly, I have the upgraded advanced paddle module and am very pleased with it.

Your existing wheel is fine. Cost £0.

No difference. It's an upgrade for the cheaper wheels like the Macca v2 that come with a cheaper mounting option.

And in turn what is the difference between the QR1 and QR2?
As stated previously - we don't know. It's not launched yet. It's specifically for DD wheelbases.

Yes. It's listed as compatible on the steering wheel product page. Anything with a QR1 is. I've got two six year old steering wheels that work just fine, one needed a firmware update which it asked for automatically at setup.
