Sim racers - what are you running?

I have a Simucube Pro which has wireless connectivity, used with an Ascher F28 wheel and I've never had a connectivity issue. Not even once.
Yep I had a Simucube sport and it never dropped connection once. I removed my watch and turned off Bluetooth on my phone last night and it didn't drop out once, which is odd.

Thinking about swapping the Simagic Alpha mini as this Moza base and wheel are useless half the time.

That's if I can get a refund, not had much luck with the place I got it all from, and the total was £1100 with the Moza display.

@burtie Some Simagic users are also having the odd issue with wireless connection and certain little foibles with the Simpro software, so I'd suggest asking on the unofficial discord (not the FB group, as I hear that's quite heavily censored when it comes to criticism).
Personally, I haven't had any problems, but I use a slightly older revision of the Alpha mini + USB rims.

On the plus side, reviewers like Laurence Dusoswa do say that "The alpha mini has significantly more power than the r9. Both give great force feedback but the Simagic is better from my experience."

I dunno if I'm just getting old but I can't seem to find the discord group. I'd be happy to keep the wheel and base without the connection issues.

Thing I'm concerned about is waiting 1-2 months and then having an issue. Would it go back to OCUK and have to wait for probably more stock? Or would it go to Moza and where is that to send back to?

I appreciate everything can have some issues but it's the stock issue and where to send back to that's a problem. I would have thought if it was software would have been sorted in 1 year buy now.

I see the virtual RF2 LeMans 24 event has some issues this weekend - Max certinly didn’t hold back

I think he's right to speak frankly about it. It really was a shambles and quite damaging no doubt to the sim racing hobby.

This was the highest profile cross over event and it was run very very poorly.

Got it all built. It still needs some tweaking. I moved the front shaker to under the seat so i'm running it mono ith 2 shakers at the rear. I'm using a NOB Sound amp and I think i'll buy a bigger psu for it to deliver some more "shake"

Gone into the Rookies driving the MX5s. They are at Oulton Park at the moment so I did some practise laps. Taken about 7 seconds off my initial laps....need to takle about 3 more. Still cant lap the whole lap well and my best vs. optimal is 1.3 seconds apart.

Decided to do the 8pm race. Plan was to keep my nose clean. I started 12th and finished 5th. 1 silly spin cost me 4th. This is going to be a time eater for sure!

This looks awesome! I can tell you are into this neck deep!

Balls deep! hhahahaha.

I bought a driving force pro and played iRacing in 2009. Before that playing Live for Speed using a Joystick. I never had room to have it setup so it was on a dining room table. It lasted 6 months. I then did another 3 month stint in 2017. Kids were older but we were still in the same house and no room.

The "explosion" of sim rigs / racing during lock down 1 radicalised me and I started researching and building a list. I actually bought the p1-x rig in Feb 2021. Buying bits over time. This weekend was the 1st time i've driven it at home in the shed I built for it. Happy days.

Recently went with tactile - pedal deck and seat bottom, using the same transducers as @john_smith (hooked up to an AV amp) and I have to say that it really does increase immersion if you're sensible with levels, the amount of effects and take the time to dial it in a bit. Like with motion rigs, less can be more.
While it can depend on the track for certain things, it's generally good everywhere. Places like the Karussel at Nords can be exceptionally immersive for example, especially in VR.

Probably gonna add a couple of these somewhere in the seat next, and just maaaybe another of the big ones on the seat back if I cba.

Are you running sim hub? I’d be interested to see you setup as I’ve gone in blind. Initially I went front / rear but my front had a nasty vibration sound when mounted under the pedal deck so I’ve gone mono with both mounted to the rear of my rig.

Yep, I'm running simhub.
Effect spatialization for each are set to front/rear in the effects profile tab and I'm using the custom channel map in sound output.
Levels obviously depend on the output level in simhub and your amp volume, so don't mind those :)

The pedal situation is a funny one for most of us I think, since it ideally needs to be isolated from the rest of the chassis otherwise a lot of the vibration simply gets transmitted through the frame. I'm getting away with it and the situation feels fairly cohesive, but it could ideally feel more localised. Saying that, the same thing kind of happens in a real car for obvious reasons, so...
As for your vibration noise, I guess you had to turn it up to feel something going by the pics of your mounting placement and the vibe transmission situation? That, and maybe the slider you have there is resonating perhaps.

I'd consider mounting it directly to the pedal plate if possible, though you may still have issues if it is the slider causing the rattle.

Good info, thank you. My issue on the pedals I think is I have to mount underneath to the profile cross bars that my pedal plate is attachd to. So any "information" goes into the rig and sliders long before my feet feel anything that's left.

I spent most of my spare time yesterday adjusting my rig again and doing some better cable management. Today I plan to actually do some racing in the MX5s.

Yep, it's the 'problem' with these beefy rigs.
Mounting a shaker directly to the pedal plate would improve things, but the plate is still a solid piece of metal bolted to a bunch of other solid pieces of metal...

What I might do in your situation would be to remove the slider, mount the pedal plate on standoffs or a couple of bits of profile and put one or two shakers on there mounted on their own standoffs to the plate - or ideally direct to the plate underneath your heels if you countersink the holes.
Of course, this only works if you don't actually need to regularly move the pedals due to other people using the rig.

EDIT: Or just get a pedal rumble kit and save the bother :D
