Singapore Grand Prix 2012, Marina Bay - Race 14/20

Monaco 260km

Everywhere else is around 300km.

I don't think the duration is the problem, its simply a boring track, done my head in, in F1 2010.

Oh really? Didn't realise Monaco was an exception. Everywhere else is 300km +1 lap.

But shortening this race won't make it any less boring.

Oh and..

Even after Schumacher admitted it was his fault he's desperately trying to claim it wasn't

Come on arknor, take the blinkers off for once:

Reason
The driver admitted the collision was his error due to the failure to anticipate the braking performance of the car with lower tyre grip following a dafety car period.
thats not a lapse of concentration though is it.
thats not what he said either he said he hit the brakes earlier than he usually would and the car didnt deaccelerate as expected then the brakes locked up.

brundle pointed out the car looked unsettled when it braked.
anthony davidson said the first front wheel that locked up wasnt the one you would expect.
odds are the car was unsettled over the bumps and it didnt brake like you would expect.

maybe lower tyre tempratures following the safety car played a roll aswell.

i wouldnt say it was schumacher having a brain fade to old age but i guess some people just want him gone so lewis can have the seat and as far as im concerned lewis can have that seat.

then people will realise what a dog of a car merc have been building the last few seasons and the strategy blunders of mclaren will look like masterpeices compared to whats happened at merc during the last 3 seasons.

Thats what he said to the cameras not what he admitted to the stewards. Once they had the telemetry they would know if he was spinning a tale. It would seem that the one he told the cameras was a tale and the telemetry would prove that.

If there was any issue with the car beyond his control they wouldn't have punished him and Mercedes would have used it in evidence with the stewards.

exactly, he probably was thinking about boobs.

I thought webber might have got one early on for forcing another driver to have to off the track. I'd like to see that incident again to see how it differs from vettels in monza.

Was that the turn 1 thing at the start? Charlie usually is less strict on those due to the larger number of cars. 4 into 1 was never going to work without someone giving.

I'd say it's a bit of brain fade when the most experienced and successful driver in F1 'fails to anticipate' reduced braking performance after an extended safety car period. That's not normal for a driver of his calibre.

If it really was a car issue, that begs the question, why would he say to the stewards 'it was my error' and not take up the telemetry showing the clearly abnormal performance of the car due to a technical malfunction? Did Mercedes just fancy the extra challenge of a grid drop next race?

what would the telemtry prove? he hit the brakes earlier than usual but didnt have the grip levels expected to slow down because the tyres were cold?

he still slammed into someone and thats all the stewards care about unless his brakes had failed completely or some other mechanical failure.

looks like the stewards took into account the senna incident from earlier this season even though the circumstances werent exactly the same..

for one schumacher wasnt trying to over take anyone or break as late as possible because someone was trying to over take him

we could say the same thing about alonso , hamilton , vettel etc locking brakes or hamilton ruining his gearbox from hitting a wall in quali

usually when it happens people are more fortunate that there isnt a car infront of them, but the next time one of the above spins , drops it , locks a brake and ruins a set off tyres , goes in to deep etc i will remind everyone a driver of their calibre shouldnt do that.

That's not normal for a driver of his calibre , how could ewis not anticipate this?

Didn't Webber get past someone (Hulk or one of the Saubers) after the SC by going wide?

I think I mentioned it to my girlfriend and said he would have to give the place back but the commentary team didn't pick up on it so I assumed it must have been a legitimate move.

Was that on the outside of turn 5 after the DRS zone?

Quite, we'll all agree and say 'Yep, that was bloody stupid' not 'NO IT WASN'T HIS FAULT IT MUST HAVE BEEN THE CAR'

Your resolute defence of Schumacher in every circumstance and insistence that he can do no wrong is thoroughly embarrassing to read frankly.

It was on about lap 3 iirc, I will watch the re-run and try to pick it out. I would like to see more angles or more of it.
