Sinnis Vista

Ouch, I just sold a CBR125R with 1100 miles on, on a 10 plate for £2k! This bike came in as a part ex and it's a far superior bike and a little bit more money, which you'd probably get private for less than what I sold mine for.

But I have never, nor will I ever attempt it my self.

It's really not that difficult on the smaller tyres. That said I'm considering getting someone else to fit the rear tyre on my Mille simply because it's a 190/50 and therefore won't fit into my vice (which I use for bead breaking) and I know it will be a sod to get on the rim due to low profile/stiff sidewalls.

You have bought a Chinese bike and they tend to rust at a prodigious rate. If you want to keep at least some of it's value then you need to look after it.

I hear what your saying. Will research what has been advised a bit further in terms of maintenance as I don't know much at moment.

My 2p worth here.
It's a Chinese low capacity bike. In 3 years when it gets to MoT time it will be worth nothing. It will still be worth nothing shiny and gleaming.
I don't see the point.

If it was something with some modicum of retained value after 3 years then yeah, do it.

I see a Sinnis Stealth (same engine by the looks of things) on a 2009 plate for £650. That's the kind of retained value you're looking at.

I've bought a Chinese bike before for my mrs but it was stupidly cheap at £500 for a 1 year old HN125. I sold it for £450 2 years later. There's no way I would drop the best part of two large on one.

Oh, and it's not a Suzuki engine. It's a "Suzuki designed" engine which means it's based on a pattern for probably the GN125 motor. The HN125 we owned had a "Honda designed" engine which was based on the CG125 lump. In no way was it even remotely as good as a CG125 engine. It was shockingly bad actually.

I disagree with you on the maintenance. It's a motorbike, if he ignores basic maintenance, despite the value or size. It is vital. I wouldn't expect anything less, your life could depend upon it! lol.

Daft thing to say "Don't bother maintaining your bike".

What I am suggesting takes about 6 hours over the year, 2 one offs getting it ACF 50'd.

I didn't say don't maintain it did I. That would be stupid.
I said, no need to spend out on having it sprayed with something to keep it clean.

With regards to ACF-50 are the spray cans decent enough? How much do you put on and are there any areas you don't spray it on the bike?

I didn't buy the bike for a good return value on it when I go to sell it, I baught it to build experience and if you can ride a cheap bike that vibrates, you can ride one that don't. Hahaha. There are good and bad points so I will see.

Indeed.
There is no need to ride a cheap bike that vibrates when you can have a cheap bike that doesn't vibrate for the same money (allbeit slightly older).

Seriously though, if you haven't actually ordered this thing yet, stop and take a look at a used Honda CBF125 or CBR125. They are much better machines and you will enjoy riding and learning a whole lot more.

Sorry mate, misread. It isn't that expensive, and it does much more than keep it clean. It's anti corrosion. Which will be needed on this bike!

The best way, is to put the can in a mug of recently boiled water for 5 mins, this makes the liquid very easuy to apply. Spray this onto a rag, and wipe any naked metal basically. There is nothing that it 'can't' got on. They use it on airplanes. Literally spray the entire engine bay of the stuff! Honestly, you will thank me later :)

You may laugh mate but i've seen it done, DON'T put it on the brake discs!:p

Ok thanks for that:)

The bike is getting a deep clean on Saturday so I need to get some muc-off and polish and the ACF. Got the Autosol for the downpipes as they are faded that horrid gold-ish colour and my new endcan and link pipe is shiny lol.

Bhogal. Some of the guys here do have a good point on getting a Jap bike but then again if the Sinnis holds up well for the time you use it and you are not fussed about re-sale value when you upgrade to a big bike then it will be like Christmas, birthday, Easter, New Year and your dirtiest fetish all rolled into one climax once you plonk your rear on a Jap/German/British bike!:D

Already ordered mate.

Yea it is a bit too late, but I'm a firm believer of fate so I guess will see where the road leads me. As for future bigger upgrade, will hopefully be working my way up to a Triumph Rocket!!! Hahaha.

Lol i know you wouldn't but have seen some younger riders give it a go:D

I used to ride with this one guys, real nice chap. New to biking. Brand new GSXR, from a 125 thing. Went to his to spend half a day giving him the lowdown on what to clean, how to clean, whats to maintain ect ect.

Went in to make a tea, came back with him cleaning the disks with WD40!!! I just laughed and said "I will ride this for a couple of miles before you hop on it otherwise your leathers will need dry cleaning" lol.
