Sir Alex Ferguson Retires

the moyes choice would be fergusons choice imo and people need to remember that ferguson didn't hit the ground running at united but was given time.

Ferguson also didn't inherit the league winning team from the year before, hence why he was given time.

Moyes will be coming in with massive expectation.

For once I think you have a point, most of the fans on here excluding Tom have done nothing but **** off fergie and his choices this year despite winning the title at an absolute canter. I don't think they will be happy regardless. If Moyes wins the CL next year but comes 3rd in the league they will have something to moan about.

Hey! Don't bundle us with The_Idiot_Man .

But when fergie took over expectations were relatively lower. Certainly not to win the European cup..

Oh dear.

Lets have a think about why that might be. English clubs were excluded from europe thanks to those lovely Liverpool fans. Funnily enough even you couldn't expect a manager to win a tournament you are not allowed to enter.

Newsflash Moyes fails to win Worldcup with Manu :p

I can't see Utd simply accepting CL qualification for a prolonged period.

Of course not, the end game has to be for him to continue the tradition of us challenging for the title season after season but just next season as a starting point would simply finishing top 4 be seen as a success?

Again I'm not against the appointment per-say but at this point it's a little hard to know what the expectations for someone like Moyes should be next season...

I just want to know why Jones keeps getting called/compared to Midfielders? He is a centre back that gets played out of position.

Minimum Utd next season should be in the top 4 or at least challenging for it, if not winning it. Moyes will need at least a season to settle in unless he hits the ground running and carries on from where Fergie left off this season.

And with rumours circulating that Falcao may be at Utd then Utd have an excellent chance of winning trophies with Moyes at the helm.

Figuratively of course because we wouldn't have qualified for the champs cup till a few years later.

Fergie had already won a cup winners cup with Aberdeen though. Moyes not so much.

@iandennisbbc: Manchester United players informed at training that David Moyes is the choice to take over from Sir Alex Ferguson #bbcsport

Taping my foot waiting for Everton to announce this so I can start crying over the possibility of having Martinez or Lennon.

Outside Goodison Park. Robert Elstone, Everton chief exec, leaves but refuses to make any comment on David Moyes's future.

That's it pretty much nailed on then.

Nice words from Rafa for SAF.

Get him in! :( :( :p

Yeah, very respectful, good man.

The more I've thought about Moyes today the more I'm coming round to it and actually maybe it's the Man Utd way. Give Moyes a chance and I for one will be behind him all the way.
