Would be sickening wouldn't it!

So unless Kenwright tells him he'll have £60m to spend in the summer and we're going to be taken over I can't see him staying.

I hope very much that's exactly what Kenwright tells him.

I hope he sees out his managerial career at Everton, and stays a million miles away from United.

One reason I can see Moyes going to Utd is they would want a manager who would stay long term, not one that would come in for a few years and move on.

Long term as in 26 years long term or 5 years minimum long term?

United fans have been blessed to have 1 guy in the job for the past 26 years, one thing they need to quickly move away from is this notion that the next guy to arrive will also get 26 years at the helm.

Nobody will replicate that sort of success and longevity.

Moyes is going to be scrutinized like hell, only the likes of a Ancelotti or Mourinho would be able to take on that sort of a challenge.

I was thinking earlier what's the minimum we should expect of Moyes next season? Initially I thought top 4 but then christ is that how far we've fallen in the space of 2 days? So should the minimum next season be a trophy? After all Fergie always said the aim every season was to win a trophy...

(if it does turn out to be moyes) united fans should embrace the change. did you really want another season like this one? bland performances, grinding out results, dodgy subs, big money spunked on the likes of jones and cleverly? i think even ferguson knew he'd blagged this season.

ironically, had city actually got a competent manager in and made some signings, they could've been champions by now too and there is no way on this earth that ferguson would've quit with city at the top. 'winning the league in style' (lol) has essentially made fergusons mind up.

the moyes choice would be fergusons choice imo and people need to remember that ferguson didn't hit the ground running at united but was given time. he was extremely fortuanate with youth players he had and he made some fantastic signings in the late 80's early 90's, the likes of mcclair, sharp, pallister and most importantly, scmeichel simply aren't around anymore.

First or second in the league and a decent run in a cup competition would do for me.

He doesn't HAVE to win a trophy right away, but it'd be nice.

Yeah terrible isn't it!...who wants to win the league by a thousand points like that? I really feel for Utd fans....my thoughts are with you:confused:

Guess you want AVB out as well then?

Mmmmm. Tom Cleverley came through the youth system at Utd, so not sure how that was 'spunking' cash on him?

I am guessing the whole post was just a wind-up, or at least I hope so.

But when fergie took over expectations were relatively lower. Certainly not to win the European cup.

The game has moved on. The players Moyes been working with and scouting etc are not utd caliber. It will be complete unknown for him. And he needs to act quickly with some big signings.

He has the profile of a jellyfish and this is really the worst news I've heard this year.

it was an unsustainable system and was more down to other teams failings rather than united successes. as stated, city should be dominating with their cash, with chelsea not far behind. ferguson retiring will spurr both clubs owners to spend big(ger) now imo and if moyes does leave everton, the battle for 3rd-6th will be between utd, spurs, arsenal and possibly liverpool because lets face it, who else is there? league is a bit pap in all honesty :(

first season with spurs? check
grinding out results with a budget half the size of united? check
dembele costing less than jones? check

:(

I don't like reading that

I think 3rd would have been an achievement next year even with Fergie if City dump Mancini and Chelsea get Jose. I think a trophy will be an achievement in his first year, it's not like he has one :D

For once I think you have a point, most of the fans on here excluding Tom have done nothing but **** off fergie and his choices this year despite winning the title at an absolute canter. I don't think they will be happy regardless. If Moyes wins the CL next year but comes 3rd in the league they will have something to moan about.

This is what makes the Moyes appointment so strange. A few people have mentioned that you're going after him because he's more likely to hang around than a foreign manager, which is fair enough, however no manager is going to be there for the long term if they're not winning trophies most seasons. I can't see Utd simply accepting CL qualification for a prolonged period.

I think there's huge doubts over whether Moyes is capable of winning regularly enough to enable him to stay at Utd for the long term, in which case why go for him over others?
